On the morning of June 29, President Vo Van Thuong attended and delivered a speech at the dispatch ceremony of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5 and Engineering Team No. 2 to carry out United Nations (UN) peacekeeping missions in South Sudan and Abyei. Also attending the dispatch ceremony were representatives of several ministries and branches, including the Ministry of National Defense, leaders of Ho Chi Minh City and representatives of the UN in Vietnam.

63 soldiers go to South Sudan for duty
Speaking at the ceremony, Doctor Nguyen Ha Ngoc, Director of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5, said that Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5 will replace Level 2 Field Hospital No. 4, which has completed its mission. The 63 members, including 11 women, were selected from Military Regions 5, 7, 9, Army Corps 4, Military Hospital 175, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department and several other units.
The participating forces are thoroughly trained in all aspects, including politics, military, technical logistics, medical expertise, and peacekeeping knowledge in line with the actual situation, fully meeting the UN criteria and requirements for performing tasks at the Mission.

The 2nd Engineer Team replaces the 1st Engineer Team in the Abyei area, with 184 members, including 19 women, mobilized from many military regions and branches.
Team members are trained in specialized fields such as international humanitarian law, sexual violence prevention, explosives identification, engineering expertise exchange, foreign languages, medicine, technical logistics... to meet the requirements of the Mission as well as the requirements of the United Nations.
“Along with being fully equipped with means and materials to serve the mission, 100% of the officers and employees of the two units are highly determined and ready to set off to carry out the mission,” Dr. Nguyen Hai Ngoc shared.
With will and determination, any difficulty will be overcome.
Participating in the second UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan in a harsh environment, Captain Nguyen Manh Hiep, an air ambulance officer, shared that he always strives to complete the assigned tasks well. "We have the mindset of Vietnamese soldiers, with the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, the enthusiasm of youth. Being more than 10,000 km away from the Fatherland, I am a bit worried but I always receive the attention, encouragement and support of my wife and family," Captain Hiep shared.

Before boarding the plane to carry out her mission, soldier Hoang Thi Thuong of Engineering Team No. 2 was close to her family, sharing her longing for her family, home, and 2-year-old son.
"As women, we also have certain difficulties, but with our will and determination, I think we can overcome any difficulty," Hoang Thuong shared.
Presenting the decision and presenting the national flag to the peacekeeping force at the departure ceremony, President Vo Van Thuong commended, acknowledged and highly appreciated the officers, soldiers and blue beret forces of Vietnam, including the officers, staff and soldiers of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 4 and Engineering Team No. 1 for their encouraging results.
The President affirmed that the Party and State always trust and are proud of the achievements of Vietnam's peacekeeping forces in recent times. At the same time, they trust the teams and units deployed to the Mission to replace and inherit the achievements of the previous peacekeeping forces.
