Sputnik news agency reported that at the consultation, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that relations between China and Russia have overcome the challenges of international fluctuations and maintained stable development momentum.

According to him, under the leadership of the two countries' leaders, the Russia-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership "has overcome the challenges of international changes and maintained healthy and stable development."

Foreign Minister Wang Yi noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, with many important strategic agreements between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"China and Russia have always supported each other on issues related to each other's core interests, enhanced political trust, promoted economic cooperation in various fields, and built a new model of relations between major neighboring countries," he stressed.

Affirming that Beijing is willing to strengthen coordination on strategic issues, ensuring common security and development interests, Mr. Wang Yi also appreciated the important contributions of China and Russia in promoting solidarity and cooperation among countries in the Southern Hemisphere.

For his part, Mr. Shoigu noted: “I see the most important task as countering the policy of 'dual containment' towards Russia and China pursued by the United States and its allies.”

Before being elected US president in the November 5 election, Donald Trump threatened to impose high tariffs on imported goods from China and other countries.

Meanwhile, in May, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged to open a “new era” in their partnership.

The two leaders also believe that the US-led unipolar world order after the Cold War is gradually collapsing and that the strong Moscow-Beijing relationship has the potential to impact world stability.
