(Dan Tri) - Russian intelligence said the West does not rule out the possibility that the Ukrainian army's defense line will soon collapse.

"Information obtained by the SVR shows that the Western political elite notes that the Ukrainian army's ability to withstand the Russian armed forces has decreased. It cannot be ruled out that the Ukrainian army's defense line will soon collapse," the press office of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said in a statement on January 3.
According to SVR, the outgoing administration of US President Joe Biden is seeking to avoid the above scenario, emphasizing "providing more sophisticated weapons, including long-range missiles" to Ukraine.
"However, the White House admits that simply providing equipment to the Ukrainian army is not enough to stabilize the front line," SVR revealed.
The SVR said the Ukrainian government has prepared a decision to lower the conscription age to 18 and will soon adopt this decision.
"Washington recently demanded that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky lower the military age to 18. Kiev has prepared a decision and will soon adopt it," SVR added.
Eastern European countries are preparing for a new wave of Ukrainian refugees after Kiev lowered the military conscription age to 18, according to Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service.
"Eastern European countries bordering Ukraine have been quietly preparing to receive a new wave of Ukrainian refugees. This time, they will be fleeing not from an imagined threat from Russia, but from the real danger of being given a one-way ticket to the front line," the SVR said.
"The West is aware that this conflict is vital for Russia and that it will not back down. It was clear from the beginning that Kiev's refusal to negotiate pushed the Ukrainians into the crisis. And Zelensky is persistently pursuing this disastrous path," SVR warned.
Russian attacks on all fronts have left Ukraine's defense forces, already short of troops and resources, exhausted.
To address the troop shortage, President Zelensky has lowered the conscription age from 27 to 25, but the Biden administration has called on Kiev to lower it further to allow Ukraine to have more troops. However, Kiev has yet to agree to this plan.
As a result, the continuous Russian attacks have left Ukrainian soldiers with no time to rest. Ukraine, already stretched thin on a 1,000km frontline, is now on constant alert and fighting.
Ukraine is facing increasingly serious manpower challenges along the frontline, while Russia is using a "thousand cuts" tactic to put relentless pressure on Kiev's defenses.
The "thousand cuts" tactic is a military tactic in which the enemy is attacked repeatedly with small, incremental attacks, rather than with large, immediate strikes. The goal of this tactic is to create a gradual exhaustion, stress, and loss, leaving the enemy feeling overwhelmed and unable to maintain an effective defense.
To make the tactic more effective, Russia is trying to attack Ukrainian defenses on different sides of the front line. One key area is the city of Pokrovsk, a strategic rail and logistics hub that Moscow is closing in on in the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine. Russia is also trying to push Ukrainian forces back from the Kursk region, which Kiev launched a surprise attack on in August.
