"Today, in connection with the ongoing events, the fighter has taken part in all operations. It still has to complete flight tests and then the Defense Ministry will make a final decision," General Designer of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Sergei Korotkov told RIA Novosti .
Mr. Korotkov answered as above when asked whether a decision has been made on mass production of MiG-35 for the Russian Aerospace Forces.
According to RIA Novosti , there are six pre-production MiG-35s in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces.
Mr Korotkov said the MiG-35's characteristics "please foreign customers". Export negotiations for the MiG-35 are also underway in parallel, but he did not say which countries are potential buyers.
The MiG-35 is a "4++" generation aircraft, created using fifth-generation fighter technology to operate in areas of high-intensity armed conflict in conditions of dense air defense.
This aircraft model is designed to destroy air targets at all times and in all weather conditions, with the ability to destroy both mobile and fixed targets on the ground.
According to developers, some of the advantages of the MiG-35 are its reduced radar signature, active phased array radar, new engines with greater thrust, and long range, especially if refueled in the air.
The MiG-35 is capable of carrying all types of guided and unguided missiles, as well as the latest "smart" bombs.
