Regarding relations with Russia, Mr. Yilmaz said that Ankara and Moscow will maintain strategic relations in the future and have the ability to cooperate towards new projects.
"My personal belief is that we need Russia and Russia needs Türkiye. We are strategic partners in many areas regardless of what is happening in domestic affairs. The two countries need each other. We have to work together," the Renewal party leader said.
According to the opposition politician, there will be new joint projects "that benefit us. The common good requires us to work together, to create new areas of investment".
On May 28, Türkiye's Supreme Election Council said that Mr. Erdogan won against his opponent Kemal Kilicdaroglu in the second round of the presidential election, with 52.14% of the vote.
After the election results were announced, Mr Putin congratulated Mr Erdogan on his re-election, saying the leader's victory was "clear evidence of the Turkish people's support for his efforts to strengthen national sovereignty and pursue an independent foreign policy".
Meanwhile, regarding relations with the US , Mr. Yilmaz said that Mr. Erdogan is "a pragmatic politician". He said that the newly re-elected President is unlikely to pursue a tougher policy after the recent election.
“We have seen that before the election, Erdogan was very bold, sharp and after the election, he pursued soft and neutral policies. Now he will do the same,” said Mr. Yilmaz.
This politician believes that Washington itself is currently busy with internal issues so it is difficult to intervene in the situation in Türkiye.
