Where you fall, that's where you get up!

MAINTAIN A STEADY MINDSET

The defeat against U.22 Indonesia highlighted the limitations of a team that had only just begun its journey towards a completely new playing philosophy.

Coach Troussier solves the psychological problem for the Vietnam U22 team.

For example, the two goals conceded from throw-ins, a tactic that is a specialty of the Indonesian players, were only analyzed by the Vietnamese U22 team through video replays. This is very different from the Vietnamese national team under coach Park Hang-seo, which was meticulously trained in every detail on the training ground to counter this dangerous tactic. In reality, it is very difficult for coach Philippe Troussier to do better with a young, inexperienced team after only two months in charge.

While Coach Park always demanded long-term training camps of 45 days or more, Coach Troussier only had short training sessions. During those brief, intermittent training camps with rarely full squads, the French strategist could only give his players time to familiarize themselves with the new philosophy. In other words, the Vietnam U22 team is still in the process of rebuilding. The "White Wizard" has only been able to help the team enter the rough construction phase, not yet to plan the detailed "interior." Therefore, it will be very difficult for the Vietnam U22 team to immediately undergo a dramatic transformation in terms of performance just a few days after their defeat against Indonesia U22.

Vietnam U22 still has the bronze medal match at the SEA Games 32.

After the match, Coach Troussier and the team sat down together to analyze the "crazy" things that happened in the emotional and dramatic game against U22 Indonesia. It was the first tough knockout match for many young players, and Coach Troussier urged them to remember the lesson so as not to repeat it. With his experience, the French strategist understood that the key to reaching the bronze medal match was to maintain a positive mindset to sustain the revolution in their playing style. Where they fell, they had to get up immediately and keep moving forward!

WE NEED THE COURAGE TO OVERCOME FAILURE.

On the morning of May 14th, midfielder Thanh Nhàn underwent an MRI scan to assess the extent of his injury and was diagnosed with a sprained ankle, requiring him to rest for approximately 3 weeks. His position will likely be given to Văn Khang by coach Troussier, as usual, in the familiar 3-4-3 formation as a right winger. Continuing the match at 4 PM at the Olympic Stadium will force the "White Wizard" to consider two issues: fitness and motivation. In fact, against U22 Indonesia, U22 Vietnam played well physically. Văn Cường, the only starting player to play the full match against U22 Thailand, was substituted at the beginning of the second half. Theoretically, he is fully fit to play against U22 Myanmar. Văn Tùng, Thái Sơn, Văn Đô, and the central defensive trio of Ngọc Thắng, Quang Thịnh, and Tuấn Tài were the players who played the full 90 minutes against U22 Indonesia. They will be assessed one last time by Mr. Troussier during training on May 15th, before a decision is made on whether or not they will start against the physically strong U.22 Myanmar team.

However, the key issue will be the motivation and desire that the players have shown throughout the SEA Games 32. It's not a need for self-expression, which in youth can sometimes turn into a bit of selfishness, but a desire to contribute to the team's overall success. Success creates motivation, but failures also serve as a positive filter to hone their character. Especially with a young team just beginning their long journey, Coach Troussier has never uttered a word of criticism despite public pressure. He's like a father shielding them from all the storms, but when "teaching behind closed doors," he's very strict in pushing his young players to confront themselves and grow. No one wants to go home with a defeat. The U22 Vietnam team needs a victory to prove to the many fans, who have moved from doubt to expectation, that they have the character to react positively to failure and will continue to grow. That's the kind of response Troussier needed from his young players.
