DAWN. The government of Punjab, Pakistan's most populous province, has temporarily closed schools and markets to protect human health due to severe air pollution with thick smog.
PTI. The government of the capital New Delhi has extended the decision to close all schools until November 18, also due to air quality at levels hazardous to human health.
MINT. Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and his Malaysian counterpart Zambry Abdul Kadir co-chaired the Joint Commission Meeting in New Delhi, discussing new areas of cooperation such as digital, fintech and semiconductors.
ANTARA. The Indonesian military issued the 2024 Peaceful Election Declaration , pledging to maintain stability and security before, during and after the 2024 general election.
KEMLU. Indonesia's anti-corruption court sentenced former communications and information technology minister Johnny Gerard Plate to 15 years in prison for corruption in a project to develop internet infrastructure in remote areas.

TASS. Russia is ready to conduct dialogue with the West on issues of strategic stability , but currently lacks the necessary prerequisites for such a process, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
GUARDIAN. The British Foreign Office has expanded its sanctions list against Russia, imposing sanctions on Russian companies Krastsvetmet, Ural, Nord Gold and Highland Gold Mining.
REUTERS. Britain and Poland have signed a deal worth more than £4 billion ($4.9 billion) to supply a new generation air defence system, part of the next phase of Poland's Narew future air defence programme.
DAILY WIRE. Norway has temporarily suspended its participation in the Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) Treaty after Russia withdrew while the US and its NATO allies have suspended implementation of the treaty.

AFP. Serbian police have detained thousands of migrants in the past two weeks in the north and east, part of a nationwide operation launched after a shooting that left three migrants dead.
SWISS INFO. The Swiss government is moving closer to considering resuming negotiations with the EU for a broader cooperation agreement.
AFP. The Swiss Federal Council has decided to abolish the tax exemption for electric cars, which has been in effect since 1997.
America
CNN. The United States will provide a loan worth more than $550 million to help Sri Lanka implement a project to build a deep-water container port in this South Asian country.
TORONTO STAR. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau urged all parties involved in the Hamas-Israel conflict in the Gaza Strip to end the violence and get “back on track” toward a two-state solution in the Middle East.
CBC. The Canadian government announced plans to convert six federal properties into 2,800 new homes by March 2024, while also accelerating the process of identifying additional public buildings for conversion into housing.

AL QAHERA NEWS. Egypt is close to brokering a “ humanitarian ceasefire ” between the warring parties in the Gaza Strip, including an exchange of hostages and Palestinian detainees.

EAST AFRICAN. UN peacekeepers and armed forces from the Democratic Republic of Congo have launched a joint security operation amid increased activity by the M23 rebel group in the east of the country.

ABC. Australia's Optus mobile services have been restored after a 13-hour outage.
