Recently, Russia has continued to defend its cooperative relationship with North Korea, in the context of the West increasingly expressing strong opposition to this "handshake".

Reuters news agency reported that on October 30, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) held a meeting on recent information that North Korea had deployed thousands of troops to help Russia in a special military campaign in Ukraine.
Facing accusations from the US, UK, South Korea, Ukraine and several other countries that Moscow and Pyongyang violated UN resolutions and the UN Charter, Russia's special envoy to the world's largest multilateral organization, Vassily Nebenzia , affirmed that the two allies did not violate international law.
The Russian diplomat 's statement emphasized: "Russia's interaction with North Korea in the military and other fields is appropriate and does not violate international law. It is not aimed at third countries."
In addition, Mr. Nebenzia asked: "Even if everything that Western colleagues say about cooperation between Russia and North Korea is true, why do the US and its allies try to impose the false argument that they have the right to help the government in Kiev while Russia's allies do not have the right to do the same?"
Neither Moscow nor Pyongyang has confirmed nor denied North Korea 's troop deployment to Russia, but the Northeast Asian nation has said any such move would comply with international law.
"If Russia's sovereignty and security interests are threatened and infringed upon by the continued dangerous attempts of the United States and the West, and if Pyongyang deems it necessary to respond to them with some action, we will make the necessary decision," North Korea's UN Ambassador Song Kim told the Security Council.
Also on October 30, TASS news agency quoted Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova as reassuring that those who intend to interact peacefully with Russia have nothing to worry about regarding military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang.
“ There is nothing unusual or extraordinary about two good neighbours, with historical ties, agreeing on the basis of interaction in many areas, including their own security,” she stressed.
According to the Russian diplomat, the goals outlined in the Russia-North Korea treaty will be implemented within the established framework.
She also reminded those countries that want to split this relationship: "We strongly recommend to abandon these completely unnatural and meaningless plots. Stop all threatening actions and change. Because we will always respond proportionately to any aggressive and destructive actions."
