On the afternoon of June 25, a vehicle carrying the Quang Nam youth football team was traveling on Vi O Lac Pass in Kon Plong District (Kon Tum Province) when it suddenly got into an accident, killing one player and injuring five players and one fan.

Footballer Luong Quang Huy (born in 1999, residing in Phuoc Hoa ward, Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province) is currently being treated at Quang Nam General Hospital with multiple injuries to his arms, legs, and abdomen and is still confused because the incident happened so suddenly.

“It was around 11am, there were 30 people on the bus, the bus was going downhill. I was sitting in the last row. The bus suddenly lost its brakes, the driver swerved to avoid another car.

Luong Quang Huy is being treated at Quang Nam General Hospital.

The car was about to fall into the abyss, the person in the car grabbed the steering wheel and pulled it onto the slope of the cliff, flipping it over. If we hadn't acted quickly, we would have fallen into the abyss," Huy recounted.

Afterwards, people around came to help, broke the door to bring the victims out. Currently, Huy has a serious injury to his left knee, soft tissue injury to his hand and is preparing to undergo surgery for treatment.

Player Nguyen Phi Hung (born 2002, from Thang Binh district, Quang Nam province) said that the accident happened around 11am, the car lost its brakes and crashed into the cliff.

“At that time, I was sitting and talking to my friend next to me. Suddenly, the car lost its brakes and went downhill. The driver turned the wheel onto the side of the road. The car flipped over. I broke the window, crawled into the middle of the ditch and escaped,” said player Phi Hung.

Nguyen Phi Hung recounts the moment of the accident

At around 2:00 p.m. the same day, Hung and two other victims were taken to Quang Nam General Hospital for treatment. Hung currently has soft tissue injuries in his arms and legs. Doctors will monitor him for 2-3 days and he can be discharged.

Initial information said that the deceased player was VMH and the two seriously injured players were LQH and NPH.

It is known that the car carrying the players had an accident while on the way back from the first leg of the 2023 National Second Division tournament at Kon Tum Provincial Stadium.

Bring the deceased player back to Quang Ngai for funeral

Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam, Nguyen Thanh Hong, said that forces had been sent to the scene of the accident.

The deceased player VMH (21 years old) has been taken to Quang Ngai (the player's hometown) by Kon Tum province authorities for funeral arrangements.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, among the 3 injured people, 2 players were slightly injured, 1 fan who was cheering, had a broken arm and is being treated at Quang Nam General Hospital.
