The role of parks
Simply put, a park is a place for organizing cultural, sports , and recreational activities that serve the community. In developed cities, parks are incredibly useful green lungs.
In the hustle and bustle of life, amidst towering architectural structures, park spaces with lush greenery, clear lakes, benches for resting, tree-lined paths, or even parks with modern recreational facilities, are invaluable moments of tranquility for human life, society, and the environment.
Dien Ban currently has 25 parks of varying sizes. Five parks have an area of over 10,000 square meters, the largest being Me Thu Park in Dien Thang Trung ward with over 21,000 square meters, while the rest are smaller parks and village parks.
With urban spatial structures formed from long-standing village models, perhaps the value of parks has not been fully appreciated. Even in places considered the oldest towns in Dien Ban, such as Vinh Dien, or densely populated areas in Dien Ngoc and Dien Nam, there are still many green spaces; therefore, park spaces have not been truly valued.

The people of Dien Ban are not yet truly "encircled" by a suffocating, polluted urban environment. This is because, apart from newly formed urban and residential areas, most houses and public buildings are situated along transportation routes. Behind the houses jutting out along the roads are rice fields, open fields, and even many houses and residential clusters located in the middle of the fields.
In the old village layout of Dien Ban, only two areas, Dien Quang and Dien Tho, were meticulously planned by our ancestors, with hamlets arranged in a grid pattern.
According to the master plan until 2045, Dien Ban will be an ecological urban area, developing its urban space with a green orientation. However, this does not mean that planning parks in Dien Ban town is unnecessary. On the contrary, this is a strategic investment with a positive impact on social life and the urban environment, especially in the context of increasingly limited public land.
The park is themed.
Currently, parks in Dien Ban are being built around themes related to the culture and history of the locality. This is a unique highlight that creates an attractive urban architecture for Dien Ban.
The Vinh Dien center is the Youth Park, featuring a bronze statue of the heroic martyr Nguyen Van Troi, over 5 meters tall. The monument to the heroic Hoang Truong militiaman – a structure associated with the fraternal relationship between Hoang Hoa and Dien Ban districts – is located in the Dien Minh ward's small park, adjacent to National Highway 1 named after Hoang Hoa.

Also along this route, heading north, at the beginning of Thanh Quyt bridge is a small park associated with the historical site of Ngu Giap fort - featuring an artistic symbol in the form of an ox cart that our army and people used in this battle.
Further along, near the border of Da Nang City, the park named after Mother Thu has just completed phase 1, contributing to creating favorable conditions for propaganda, traditional education , and visits to the memorial complex of heroic martyr Nguyen Van Troi and the Dien Ban martyrs' cemetery.
Heading east, you'll find the Victory Monument of the Dien Ngoc Heroes, situated in a spacious park at the intersection of Dien Ngoc ward…
The system of large-scale parks mentioned above is funded by the town's budget. With the orientation of building Dien Ban into an ecological urban area, the town government creates conditions to attract tourism projects associated with the preservation and promotion of local cultural values.
Recently, the Thanh Chiem Town Park and the Vietnamese Quốc ngữ script at Dien Phuong are also nearing completion. The town authorities stated that they will continue to develop the park in the future, connecting it with businesses to create a tourist destination.
Furthermore, in Dien Trung, the town has also planned the Go Noi Square Park with the aim of creating a space that reflects the rich cultural and historical identity of this fertile alluvial land.
Many challenges remain in perfecting and managing the parks, as well as promoting their value, but initially, the park system in Dien Ban has created its own unique character, promising to be useful spaces in future urban life.
