Notably in Vietnam, the iPhone app version of this microblogging platform failed to load tweets from everyone, even CEO Elon Musk. Instead, there was only a message that said "Welcome to X! This is the best place to see what's happening in your world. Find some people and topics to follow right now."
According to The Verge , global internet trackers have recorded a significant international outage unrelated to any country-level blocking or filtering.
Posting to X on the web, however, still works, even though posts disappear instantly, and accounts that are followed with notifications turned on still appear in the feed. On DownDetector, there have been more than 70,000 reports of problems on the platform from multiple countries, starting around 12:30 p.m. today (Vietnam time).
X crashes globally
This isn’t the only major outage for X (Twitter) this year. The Elon Musk-owned microblogging platform has experienced widespread technical issues in March, July, and most recently in October. In March, X suffered a major outage shortly after a round of layoffs of more than 200 employees. There was another incident that broke outgoing links for several hours.
Many people complained that they couldn't use X normally, having trouble accessing links, images, and videos on the site. During another outage in July, thousands of people reported being unable to retrieve tweets, missing timelines, and disappearing followers. It happened after Musk said he was imposing a temporary reading limit of 8,000 posts for verified accounts, 800 for unverified accounts, and 400 for newly registered, unverified accounts on the platform.
