At the information session, Mr. Do Truong Giang, Director of the Imperial Citadel Research Center, Institute of Archaeology, presented archaeological evidence of ancient Indian traces in Vietnam. He emphasized that the relationship between these two civilizations is one of the strongest but not fully explored historical ties in Asia. This relationship has lasted nearly two millennia, creating a solid foundation for current cooperation.
The spread of Buddhism is one of the most important aspects of the historical India-Vietnam relationship, with extensive archaeological and textual evidence suggesting multiple simultaneous routes of transmission.
The surviving architectural remains at important sites such as My Son, Dong Duong and Po Nagar are tangible evidence of Indian architectural concepts adapted to the Vietnamese context, demonstrating a refined cultural transmission, not mere imitation.
