This will help businesses save costs instead of investing in expensive classic exhibition models thanks to a type of 3D glasses.
igus® wins the Red Dot Award 2024 in two categories: Brands & Communication Design
The international jury of experts from the renowned Red Dot Award 2024 communication design competition has honored the iguverse virtual reality platform in two categories: "Virtual Reality Installation" and "Exhibition Design Elements". The award recognizes the efforts of the specialist in providing SMEs with barrier-free access to cutting-edge 3D technologies and supporting global competitiveness.
In addition, this international competition also honors virtual reality (VR) works that are impressive in terms of technology and creative design. VR technology helps people feel the simulated space more realistically thanks to 3D glasses (virtual reality glasses).
Customers can present and design products faster, more efficiently, and more sustainably without having to rely on development resources. Customers also save money by using iguverse (a virtual reality platform for industrial sales and engineering) . For example, companies can shrink their exhibition booths and create digital exhibitions instead of investing in expensive exhibition models.

More and more companies are now relying on VR to innovate in areas such as planning and design, training and marketing. According to a recent study by the German IT industry association BITKOM, one in five German companies are already using VR applications, 36% are planning to, and 57% believe that VR is important for future competitiveness.
“ In this period, it is important to reach out to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with limited budgets and expertise so that they do not miss out on the technology of the future ,” says Marco Thull, Head of Marketing at igus®.

igus® is just starting its VR journey
The Red Dot Award 2024 jury specifically recognized efforts to make 3D technology more accessible to small and medium-sized businesses at trade shows.
“ In virtual showrooms, size doesn’t matter. Even giant rigs can be presented in a realistic way that would never be possible on a traditional trade show booth ,” says Thull.
Jan Olfenbüttel, Head of Sales & Marketing at H+B technics, confirms: " Thanks to the digital twin of our boat and yacht lift systems, we can bring our products to life anytime, anywhere and even show them in action. This is difficult to do at trade shows. At the same time, we save costs. Instead of investing in expensive exhibition models, we can easily and flexibly integrate new 3D models in VR and thus show more even without a large booth area ."

Abicor Binzel, a specialist in welding and cutting technology, is also convinced of the potential of VR.
“ Thanks to the cooperation with igus®, we were able to present a VR showroom of the welding and laser welding portfolio at the world’s leading trade fair SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN 2023 and increase interaction with customers,” says Laura Lenk, Digital Business Development at Abicor Binzel. “We were able to show to scale how the products are used in the automotive industry and discuss questions with a specific application .”
The positive response from customers has motivated igus® to further develop the platform's functionality. If a customer sends us a STEP file (an intermediate file that allows designers to exchange CAD models), we can generate a 3D model from it within a few hours. igus® itself is also experimenting with ways to use VR for employee training and plant expansion planning.
