According to the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2024, the country will have 1,067,391 candidates registered to take the exam on the system (1,024,063 in 2023). The number of independent candidates registering to take the exam is 45,344 (37,841 in 2023).

According to the latest information from the Ministry of Education and Training, as of 12:00 on July 29, the number of candidates registering for university admission on the Ministry of Education and Training's system was 702,762 candidates, an increase of about 60,000 compared to the total number of candidates registered in 2023. Candidates will complete the process of registering for university admission in 2024 at 5:00 p.m. on July 30.

Regarding this issue, Dr. Vu Tuan Lam - Former Deputy Director of the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology commented that the 2024 high school graduation exam score distribution has slightly increased compared to last year, so candidates with lower scores than last year's benchmark should consider carefully when registering their wishes. However, candidates should not be too timid because candidates can register for many wishes, they just need to consider to choose the right career they like. In addition, if the high school graduation exam score consideration plan is risky, candidates should take advantage of early admission wishes.

Giving advice to candidates when registering their wishes, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Hue - Deputy Head of Training Department, Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology said that candidates need to know the registration time of the Ministry of Education and Training, from July 18 to July 30. Particularly for candidates who are admitted early, from July 22 to July 31, if they want to enroll, they must confirm on the Ministry of Education and Training System, National Public Service Portal. If they do not want to enroll immediately, candidates can still register for other wishes on the Ministry's system. If they are admitted, they must confirm their enrollment according to the general schedule of the Ministry of Education and Training.

In addition, candidates should note to pay the registration fee. Before 5:00 p.m. on August 19, schools will announce the admission scores based on graduation exam scores and the official admission list.

Then from August 19 to 5:00 p.m. on August 27, admitted candidates will officially confirm their enrollment on the Ministry's System.

"These are the milestones to complete in completing the 2024 university admission registration. If you miss any step, the admission will no longer be meaningful," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Hue.

At the same time, Ms. Hue informed that to ensure safety when registering for wishes, candidates should refer to the 2023 benchmark scores of the major they are applying for. If the score is equal, lower, or higher, they can boldly register, and at the same time, anticipate majors and schools with scores last year lower than their exam scores.

How to register for university admission in 2024 smartly?

Pham Doan Nguyen, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, said that during the time of registering for university admission in 2024, candidates will be affected by many factors, with many questions such as how to get into the major they like, what to study to get a job, or listening to friends..., then thinking about adjusting their wishes when the admission application period is about to end.

"In 2023, after the registration results are available, 120,000 successful candidates will not confirm their enrollment. These candidates may not attend school because they are not suitable or have not made a good choice. Therefore, if there are no changes in majors, schools, or preferential policies, they should not adjust their wishes," said Master Nguyen.

Master Nguyen also added that to be sure of their choice, candidates should base on their strengths, then learn about the learning environment, preferential scholarship policies of the school, determine the necessary requirements of the profession, especially need to balance between the floor score and the standard score.

"Registering smart wishes means registering for a major so that the learning process, graduating from school and going to work can be complete and graduation can be successful," emphasized the Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance.

Master Cao Quang Tu, Director of Admissions at Saigon International University, said that at this time, candidates are in a difficult position, under a lot of pressure from social information, family, and friends.

"We often choose a career because we think that going with a group of friends, studying at the same school makes it easier to support each other, especially those from the province studying far away. They are under a lot of pressure because they do not understand what they want and desire. In my opinion, setting a smart aspiration is to understand what they want and desire to go to in the future. To understand you, you only have yourself best. If your choice is not really suitable for the wishes of your relatives, you have to prove it is right because you have the ability, desire and choice, you have to be responsible for that choice. There is no optimal choice, any choice is fine, the best choice is the most suitable choice. Success does not mean that you are successful after studying, just need to be diligent, make an effort and try, any path will be successful", Master Cao Quang Tu advised.

MSc. Nguyen Tran Ngoc Phuong - Director of the Marketing and Brand Development Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology advised candidates that each of them has a different inclination, corresponding to their psychological characteristics, so choose a suitable environment.

Ms. Phuong also warned candidates not to wait until the last day to register their wishes because there may be technical errors that cannot be handled in time.

"On the last day, candidates should spend the morning checking the registered wishes to see if they are still there. If they are not, ask for support from teachers to fix the wishes. After completing each step, take a screenshot to see if you have done it correctly. If you do not need to change, do not change," said Ms. Phuong.
