Informing VTC News , Mr. Le Hong Thai, Deputy Director of Hanoitourist Travel Company, said that the company has opened sales of tours for the April 30 - May 1 holiday right after the Lunar New Year 2024. The main reason is to prevent the shortage of air tickets during peak times like previous years. In addition, it is also to avoid high ticket prices after the ceiling price has increased since March 1.

According to Hanoitourist leaders, tour prices will increase by 5-7% in the coming time due to the increase in airfares. This will strongly affect people's travel needs. Therefore, to attract customers, travel businesses must find ways to adapt.
"Domestic passengers often fly between 10am and 1pm and 3pm and 6pm every day. Therefore, flights during these times are always overloaded, which is why airfares are often the most expensive. To lower tour prices, we have to choose more suitable flight times to book cheap tickets. Only then can we sell tours and attract customers," said Mr. Thai.
Similarly, Mr. Tran The Dung, CEO of Vietluxtour, also said that his company opened sales of tours for the April 30 - May 1 holiday very early, and is currently receiving many interested customers asking for prices. Mr. Dung informed that he has been preparing to release a series of tickets since the end of 2023, so the airfare is still very reasonable at this time, not affecting the tour price.
CEO of Vietluxtour also said that for individual travelers, who often plan their travel quite close to the departure date, at that time it is peak season, and ticket prices are certainly very high.
"No matter how much the ceiling price increases, when passengers do not concentrate on one time frame or one time, airlines can sell at a price lower than the ceiling price. On the contrary, if everyone concentrates on one flight hour or one flight time, airlines will sell at the highest price due to low supply. This year, the most popular destinations for passengers are still Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Da Nang. Therefore, ticket prices to these destinations have increased sharply," said Mr. Dung.
Airfare prices increase on April 30
According to a survey, the price of a round-trip ticket from Hanoi to Phu Quoc in March was 3.5 - 4.7 million VND (weekday and weekend prices). However, during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, the price more than doubled, up to more than 7 million VND (round-trip ticket) for Vietjet and nearly 9 million VND (round-trip ticket) for Vietnam Airlines.
The ticket price for the Hanoi - Da Nang route in March was 3.5 million VND/round trip ticket, but during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, it increased to nearly 5 million VND/round trip ticket if booked at the present time (nearly 2 months before the holiday); The ticket price for the Hanoi - Da Lat route in March was 4.9 million VND/round trip ticket, but during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, it increased to the highest level of 7.6 million VND/round trip ticket.
Explaining the direct impact on the shrinking fleet and supply capacity on domestic and international routes in 2024 and 2025, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that it was because Vietnam Airlines (about 20 aircraft) and Vietjet (24 aircraft) of the A321NEO model had to check their engines according to the requirements of the manufacturer Pratt & Whitney.
In addition, Bamboo Airways also stopped operating flights from Hanoi to Hue/Dong Hoi/Con Dao and Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Hoi/Con Dao. Therefore, the scarcity of air tickets during the April 30 - May 1 holiday is entirely possible.
According to travel companies, the massive reduction of flights by airlines, especially flights to famous tourist destinations such as Phu Quoc, Con Dao... is causing great difficulties for domestic travel businesses.
Ms. Luong Le Thu, a travel agent in Hanoi, said that currently, airfares for many routes have increased by 500,000 - 1 million VND. Destinations without direct flights such as Con Dao or destinations with only one airline operating have mostly increased ticket prices.
"At present, airfare prices are not too high, but as the holiday season approaches, prices are expected to increase sharply. In fact, customers ask very early but often book very late. Usually, customers only book 1 to 2 weeks before the holiday and are shocked because the price difference between the reference price and the final price is too big," said Ms. Thu.
