According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Health, breast cancer is the leading type of cancer, accounting for 25.8% of cancer cases in women. Cervical cancer accounts for about 12% and is the second leading cause of death after breast cancer. Ovarian cancer and thyroid cancer are also common cancers in women. Sadly, in Vietnam, 50-80% of cancer patients are detected at stages 3 and 4. Meanwhile, with the advancement of modern medicine, many types of cancer can have a survival rate of 90-99% if detected and treated early.
Cancer not only seriously affects health but also has serious mental and financial consequences, especially for disadvantaged women who do not have access to regular health check-up services.
The free screening program for the four most common cancers implemented by NAPAS, Mastercard and Payoo will help participating women get early screening, increase the chance of successful treatment and improve their quality of life.
Accordingly, the program will be implemented from July 15 to October 15, 2024 with promotional activities at public places to raise funds through each NAPAS and Mastercard card payment transaction. During this time, each individual can become an ambassador of the program, indirectly contributing to support the cancer screening project by 2 methods: Tap the card to pay at the store or share information about the program on social networks.
Specifically:
Choose contactless payment method of NAPAS, Mastercard at Payoo's partner stores. For each customer's card tap, NAPAS and Mastercard will contribute 2,010 VND/successful transaction to the project.
Visit the project website at www.chamsechia.payoo.vn, create an e-card and share it on your personal Facebook page in public mode with the hashtag #chamsechia. For each valid share from the user, NAPAS and Mastercard will contribute an additional 20,100 VND.
The total budget for free cancer screening is expected to be 3.5 billion VND.
In particular, the program is also implemented at the same time as a series of major promotional programs implemented nationwide by NAPAS and Mastercard. Thus, each customer not only enjoys incentives when paying via NAPAS and Mastercard cards, but can also contribute to the budget for this free cancer screening project.
Sharing about the significance of the program, Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh, General Director of NAPAS said: “NAPAS always identifies community activities as an inseparable part of the company's sustainable development strategy. On the 20-year journey of building and developing, in addition to efforts to promote cashless payment habits, NAPAS also regularly cooperates with partners to carry out many meaningful activities that bring good values to society. Implementing the program "Touching and Sharing, Giving Hope", NAPAS wishes to convey the message of health values, share some of the difficulties and add strength and confidence to disadvantaged women to live a shining life."
Ms. Winnie Wong, Country Manager of Mastercard in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, added: “At Mastercard, the principle of ‘Doing Well by Doing Good’ is the guiding principle in all activities to support people and communities. Mastercard always strives to address the essential needs of the community and make positive contributions to society through its initiatives. The cooperation program with NAPAS and Payoo is a testament to that. Not only does it contribute to raising awareness of the importance of early cancer screening, the program also provides free screening opportunities for thousands of women who do not have access to regular health care. In addition to giving women the opportunity to live their lives to the fullest, the program also creates conditions for cardholders to join hands to contribute, creating positive social impacts for vulnerable communities.”
“At Payoo, we always keep in mind: The success of a business must always be associated with the common progress of the whole society. In addition to developing products and services that increase convenience for the community and promote cashless payments in Vietnam, we always aim to take care of the disadvantaged. With the advantage of being a platform serving all payment needs, it is even more meaningful when Payoo becomes a platform for customers and partners to join hands to share material and spiritual things with those in need, thereby promoting the power of kindness” - Mr. Ngo Trung Linh, General Director of VietUnion, the developer of the Payoo payment platform shared about the program.
The free cancer screening project implemented by NAPAS, Mastercard and Payoo has also received cooperation from the Hanoi Red Cross Society and the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Society in searching for disadvantaged women from wards and communes in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The target subjects are female workers aged 35-60; low-income people from poor or near-poor households[1]; single mothers raising children under 16 years old; disabled people or the main breadwinner in the family; suspected of having the disease but not yet having the conditions to be examined. The search and selection period will be conducted from now until September 15, 2024, ensuring that the screening rate of the program reaches the right beneficiaries.
The screening will take place on October 19 and 20, 2024 at hospitals in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. In the next phase, when the initial screening results are available, women at high risk of the disease will be partially supported with the cost of in-depth examination and advice on appropriate treatment options.
NAPAS, Mastercard and Payoo believe that with the cooperation of the whole society, the program "Touching and Sharing, Giving Hope" will bring positive changes and contribute to improving the quality of life for disadvantaged women in Vietnam.
