50 degree Celsius heat: Doctors note the following 3 body parts

When the temperature reaches 50 degrees Celsius, the body faces many challenges. Regular exposure to this temperature triggers a series of complex physiological reactions, causing many negative health consequences.

Dr Palleti Siva Karthik Reddy, a physician at Koshys Hospital in India, said: When exposed to 50 degrees Celsius heat, the body faces extreme stress. Body temperature normally fluctuates around 37 degrees Celsius and the body struggles to maintain this balance through sweating and dilation of blood vessels. However, at temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius, these mechanisms can be overwhelmed.

When exposed to temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius, the body initially responds by sweating profusely to cool itself down. Blood vessels near the skin dilate to dissipate heat. But over-dilation can cause low blood pressure and reduce blood flow to vital organs, especially the brain, explains Dr. Palleti Siva Karthik Reddy.

Research from the University of Roehampton (UK) has found that the highest temperature the body can handle is between 40-50 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, the body is likely to suffer heat stress, causing dizziness, fatigue, muscle cramps and vertigo.

Exposure to high temperatures can lead to heatstroke, which causes headaches, confusion, rapid heart rate, nausea, vomiting, and fainting. This is a medical emergency that can cause damage to the brain, heart, kidneys, and can be fatal, according to the Indian Express.

Risk of prolonged exposure to 50 degree Celsius heat

The health risks from prolonged exposure to temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius are serious and manifest quickly, says Dr. Reddy.

The first is heat stroke – which can develop within hours. This condition can lead to organ failure if not treated promptly.

At the same time, 3 important parts of the body are also quickly affected, including:

Kidneys. Excessive sweating causes rapid loss of water from the body. Repeated episodes of dehydration can lead to kidney damage and worsen cardiovascular problems.

Heart. According to the medical journal The Lancet , cardiovascular events are the leading cause of death in hot weather.

The heart has to work harder to pump blood through dilated blood vessels, increasing the risk of heart attack and other cardiovascular events, especially in older adults and people with underlying medical conditions.

Brain . At high temperatures, proteins in the body begin to break down, affecting the nervous system. Symptoms include seizures, confusion, and loss of consciousness.

Protective measures when temperature reaches 50 degrees Celsius

To protect yourself in environments with temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius, you should take the following steps, recommends Dr. Reddy:

Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water, and avoid caffeine and alcohol, which can dehydrate the body.

Find a cool, shady place: Avoid direct sunlight and stay in air-conditioned or ventilated areas as much as possible.

Wear appropriate clothing: Light, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing helps reflect heat and allow sweat to evaporate.

Limit physical activity: Reduce strenuous activity, especially during peak hours of the day. Manual workers, including farmers, construction workers, and delivery people, are at higher risk because they often work in the sun.

Use cooling methods: Use fans, take cool showers, and apply ice to key areas such as the neck, wrists, and armpits to cool the body, as veins are located at these points.

Treat promptly. If you feel dizzy, nauseous... in hot weather, go to a cool, shady place and drink water. If you have symptoms of heatstroke, go to the emergency room immediately, according to Indian Express.
