Attending the opening ceremony were Colonel Do Khac Can, Deputy Chief of the Office of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Colonel Le Minh Quang, Deputy Chief of Politics of Military Region 9.

The General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army organized a training course on communication and education on environmental protection awareness and proactive response to climate change for propaganda officers and environmental management officers of units stationed in Military Region 9.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Colonel Do Khac Can, Deputy Chief of the Office of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, said that in recent years, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have had many correct and creative policies and solutions in environmental protection, responding to climate change and overcoming environmental incidents. Every year, the General Department of Politics organizes training courses on communication and education on environmental protection awareness for propaganda officers, military science managers, reporters from newspapers and radio stations, and collaborators to serve as the core force in agencies and units throughout the army.

Through specific and practical actions, we have contributed to protecting the health of soldiers, preserving weapons, equipment, military and defense works, improving the quality of training, combat readiness, combat, production and work; together with the whole Party and people, protecting the environment, proactively responding to climate change, moving towards a green economy with sustainable development, and people being friendly with the natural environment.

"The training course is held in Military Region 9 this time. The organizers hope that with the wisdom and experience accumulated in the process of doing environmental management and communication work, according to their functions and tasks, the comrades will disseminate, exchange, and guide learners to grasp the content and methods, so that after the training, they can become the core in implementing communication and education work on environmental protection and climate change in agencies and units," Colonel Do Khac Can emphasized.

The training course took place over 4 days (from July 18 to 21). The training content focused on training and updating environmental issues, environmental pollution, climate change in Vietnam and the Mekong Delta; the impacts of the environment and climate change on socio-economic development, national defense and security; solutions to respond to and adapt to climate change, communication work on environmental protection, orientation, tasks and solutions to implement environmental protection work in the army to meet mission requirements.

In addition, the training program also includes specialized topics on propaganda work such as: Techniques for composing and propagating photographic works on environmental protection; communication skills to educate environmental protection awareness as well as experience in making television reports on the environment, responding to climate change and overcoming environmental incidents in the army.
