Dak Lak is in the 2024-2025 coffee harvest season, expected to last from November 2024 to January 2025. At the same time, it is forecasted that dangerous weather phenomena such as tropical depressions, heavy rain, thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, and hail will appear in the province. In addition, rainfall from November 2024 to January 2025 is forecast to be 10-30% higher than the average of many years. Unseasonal rains will occur more frequently and the rainy season is likely to end later than the average of many years.
Faced with complicated weather conditions and to ensure a highly effective coffee harvest, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee has issued a Directive on coffee production, harvesting, processing and consumption for the 2024-2025 crop year. Accordingly, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee requested the Chairman of the District People's Committee to direct relevant departments, offices, commune-level People's Committees, and organizations and individuals producing and trading coffee to strictly protect the coffee area ready for harvest; instruct people to prepare drying yards and dryers so as not to affect the quality of coffee when the rainy weather lasts for a long time; strictly handle cases of harvesting and trading young coffee.

In addition, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade and localities to strengthen the control of coffee quality, ensuring food safety before putting it into consumption. In addition, the agricultural sector and district-level People's Committees shall direct the effective implementation of the Coffee Replanting Plan, properly implementing the replanting process; propagating and mobilizing farmers not to spontaneously expand the coffee area, increasing the application of intensive farming measures, improving the existing coffee area according to the trend of sustainable coffee production and water-saving irrigation.

The Department of Industry and Trade grasps the demand for agricultural product consumption to connect supply and demand to promote coffee consumption; promote agricultural product consumption; connect businesses to purchase agricultural products in growing areas that are assigned codes, meeting technical standards and regulations; regularly forecast market developments, and have solutions when the coffee market has unusual fluctuations to limit damage to farmers and businesses.
Drying and processing coffee according to quality standards and regulations contributes to improving product quality.
The State Bank of Vietnam, Dak Lak branch, guides and directs commercial banks and credit institutions to prioritize capital for organizations and individuals producing, purchasing, processing and exporting coffee, especially loans for coffee replanting, investment in processing machinery and equipment, wastewater treatment systems; support loan interest rates for enterprises investing in technological equipment innovation. The Dak Lak Market Management Department coordinates with relevant agencies and units to strengthen inspection and supervision of coffee purchasing and consumption activities; promptly prevent and handle acts of price and weight forcing for profit.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hac Hien - Head of the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection of Dak Lak province, Dak Lak is the "coffee capital" of the country with 212,106 hectares and an output of 559,000 tons. Coffee is the main agricultural product in the province's economic structure, directly affecting the income of the majority of people living in the area. Currently, the high price of coffee requires standardization of many factors to ensure coffee quality, thereby ensuring a sustainable and long-term export market.
Therefore, to ensure the quality of coffee, the most important factor is to harvest coffee with over 85% ripe fruit, not to harvest green coffee and to dry, process and preserve it according to quality standards and regulations. Therefore, it is necessary to raise awareness and perception of producers and businesses and to have the participation of departments, branches, sectors and localities to develop the coffee industry better and better, not only ensuring high productivity but also ensuring good quality, effectively meeting market demand.
