Improve the efficiency of pollution control in production
In recent years, the province’s functional sectors have synchronously implemented policies, laws and solutions in pollution control, especially in industrial parks, industrial clusters and craft villages. Thereby, significantly improving the quality of the living environment, supporting the province’s investment attraction.
7/7 industrial parks have centralized wastewater treatment systems
According to statistics from the relevant authorities, in Nhon Hoi Economic Zone - where Nhon Hoi A Industrial Park and Nhon Hoi B Industrial Park are located - more than 1,756 m3 of wastewater is generated each day. Of which, wastewater generated from facilities located in Nhon Hoi A Industrial Park, Nhon Hoi B Industrial Park and the southwest area of the Economic Zone is approximately more than 882 m3 /day.

This wastewater is collected and treated at the centralized wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) of Nhon Hoi Industrial Park with a capacity of 2,000 m3 /day and night; the treated wastewater reaches level B according to QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT. Since 2017, Nhon Hoi A Industrial Park and Nhon Hoi B Industrial Park have also been installed with automatic and continuous wastewater monitoring stations and data connection to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (now the Department of Agriculture and Environment) according to regulations.
At Phu Tai and Long My Industrial Parks, the total amount of wastewater generated is about 385 m3 /day and night and is collected and treated at a centralized wastewater treatment system with a capacity of 2,000 m3 /day and night; the quality of wastewater after treatment reaches level A according to QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT. The investor of Phu Tai and Long My Industrial Parks' infrastructure also completed the installation of an automatic wastewater monitoring system and connected data to the Department of Agriculture and Environment.
Similarly, the investors of the remaining 3 industrial parks, Becamex, Nhon Hoa, Hoa Hoi, also built centralized wastewater treatment systems in accordance with regulations and wastewater treatment efficiency reached levels A, B according to QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT. In addition, the investors of Becamex and Nhon Hoa industrial parks have installed automatic wastewater monitoring systems, connecting data to the Department of Agriculture and Environment to ensure compliance with current regulations.
Dr. Nguyen Viet Cuong, Head of the Environmental Protection Department (Department of Agriculture and Environment), said: 7/7 industrial parks in the province have centralized wastewater treatment systems and operate regularly, stably and effectively. The results of monitoring the treated wastewater ensure that it meets the permitted standards before being discharged into the environment.
In addition, investors of secondary projects operating in urban areas, tourism areas, production and business establishments, and services outside industrial parks in the province have all completed the construction of centralized wastewater treatment systems according to the planning approved by competent authorities and wastewater treatment ensures compliance with current environmental standards. For coastal tourism projects in the province, wastewater is treated to standards, suitable for watering green trees and is reused by investors for watering trees.
Ensuring the environment of industrial clusters and craft villages
Currently, there are 37 industrial clusters (ICs) and 38 craft villages in operation in the province. To strengthen environmental management of ICs, relevant provincial departments, branches and local authorities regularly inspect and guide investors in construction and business of IC infrastructure to implement environmental protection measures. In particular, focusing on requiring IC investors to develop wastewater treatment plans, complete environmental records and environmental protection infrastructure in accordance with regulations.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the Management Board of Investment, Construction and Land Fund Development of An Nhon Town - the unit assigned to manage the industrial parks invested in infrastructure construction by the People's Committee of An Nhon Town, said: An Nhon Town is implementing investment in construction and upgrading of shared technical infrastructure such as internal traffic systems, sidewalks, trees, public lighting; collecting and treating wastewater, solid waste at Binh Dinh Industrial Park (Binh Dinh Ward), Nhon Hoa (Nhon Hoa Ward) and Thanh Liem (Nhon An Commune). Thereby, ensuring the conditions and requirements for environmental protection; controlling production establishments to implement environmental protection measures, moving towards implementing automatic monitoring to control environmental pollution at industrial parks.
For craft villages, the amount of wastewater generated mainly comes from food processing activities such as vermicelli and cakes and is often reused by households to serve livestock farming. In particular, the Ngai Chanh fresh vermicelli craft village (Nhon Hau commune, An Nhon town) has invested in building a centralized wastewater collection and treatment system with a capacity of 120 m3 /day and night.
Ms. Ha Thi Thanh Huong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, acknowledged: During the operation process, households in craft villages all comply with environmental protection regulations. Craft villages all have environmental protection plans and establish self-management groups for environmental protection according to regulations. Waste collection, treatment and disposal are ensured; there is no indiscriminate discharge, causing environmental impacts. By the end of 2024, there will be no more establishments in the province that are subject to environmental pollution or serious environmental pollution that must be handled.
