Improve the effectiveness of foreign affairs work between Vietnamese people and overseas Vietnamese

On October 31, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a conference to sign a program to coordinate people's foreign affairs and overseas Vietnamese affairs for the period 2024 - 2029.

The city's agencies and units participating in signing the action program with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City include: City Youth Union, Women's Union, Labor Federation, Farmers' Association, Veterans' Association, Red Cross Society, and Union of Friendship Organizations.

Accordingly, in the period of 2024 - 2029, the City Front and the above-mentioned member organizations will continue to promote their role in people's foreign affairs; perfect the coordination mechanism, closely and synchronously communicate foreign affairs information, and provide mutual support;

Forming a comprehensive and comprehensive people's foreign affairs posture of the city contributes to the Party's foreign affairs and the State's diplomacy; successfully implementing the guidelines, viewpoints and goals of foreign affairs and diplomacy in general stated in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 11th National Party Congress of Ho Chi Minh City.

Regarding specific content and solutions: in the next 5 years, the City Front and its member organizations will continue to concretize Directive No. 12-CT/TW of the Secretariat and Notice No. 14-TT/TU of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee on people's foreign affairs through developing action programs for each agency and unit, and including people's foreign affairs content in annual work programs and plans;

In addition, agencies and units strengthen relations with foreign organizations and foreign communities living and working in the city; expand friendly relations and cooperation with people of other countries...

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Ngo Thanh Son, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, assessed that in the period of 2020 - 2024, the strengthening of international connectivity and cooperation has been promoted, and units have made efforts to expand and strengthen foreign relations through exchange and cooperation activities with localities, international organizations, and people's organizations in other countries. This has contributed to enhancing the city's position in the international arena and creating new cooperation opportunities.

“Propaganda activities about the city’s culture, traditions, history and unique features are carried out creatively, helping to enhance the understanding and image of Ho Chi Minh City in the eyes of international friends,” Mr. Son emphasized.

To effectively implement the goals in the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the City Front suggested that agencies and units need to focus on key tasks such as: propaganda, creating profound changes in awareness about the role, position, and importance of people's foreign affairs and work with overseas Vietnamese, this is the task of the entire political system, of each cadre, party member and citizen.

In addition, agencies and units proactively develop plans to develop people-to-people foreign partnerships; strengthen friendly relations, and improve the effectiveness of cooperation with people of other countries...

On this occasion, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City commended and awarded Certificates of Merit to 22 collectives and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements in people's foreign affairs and work for overseas Vietnamese in the period 2020 - 2024.
