Enhance the value and brand of fruit trees in the market

Preparing conditions to meet the export and consumption activities of the locality's key fruit products in 2025, Yen Chau district is stepping up trade promotion and product advertising; promoting the role of enterprises, cooperatives and people in proactively connecting, searching and expanding consumption and export markets.

Tu Nang is a commune with a large fruit growing area in Yen Chau district, with 760 hectares of mangoes and 800 hectares of longans, with an average output of over 17,300 tons of fruit per year. Fruit growing households in the commune have applied safe production processes to meet market demand. The commune has 4 cooperatives linked to purchase mangoes and longans for export. Typically, Quyet Tam Fruit Cooperative has linked more than 170 households to produce over 500 hectares of longans and mangos; of which, 186 hectares are granted growing area codes for export to the markets of China, the US, and Australia. In 2024, the cooperative's longan and mango output for consumption and export will reach 4,600 tons.

Mr. Duong Van Ha, Director of Quyet Tam Fruit Cooperative, shared: To meet the standards for mango export, the cooperative requires members to comply with the production regulations of importing countries, apply science and technology, keep diaries, bag fruits, use pesticides and insecticides according to the list permitted by importing countries, and strictly follow the quarantine period. Coordinate with the district's functional departments to proactively connect and contact for consumption in the markets. In the 2025 mango crop, a number of partners have come to learn about and place orders to purchase mango products of the cooperative for export to China.

In Phieng Khoai commune, in recent years, plum growers have shifted to organic tree care, using entirely biological products, thanks to which the fruit is of good quality and is favored by consumers.

Noong Pieu Indigenous Agricultural Cooperative, Phieng Khoai Commune, has cooperated to grow over 80 hectares of plums, of which 30.5 hectares have been granted a growing area code specializing in producing Ruby plums. By applying safe production methods and creating quality products, the Cooperative has successfully built the Ruby plum brand. Each year, the Cooperative harvests and sells over 300 tons of plums, with a selling price of 70,000-120,000 VND/kg depending on size.

Ms. Bui Phuong Thanh, Deputy Director of the Cooperative, shared: In 2024, the Cooperative's Ruby plums will be a 4-star OCOP product of the province. The Cooperative has linked up with a number of partners to offer products, bringing 10 tons of plums to the UK, France, Germany, and the Czech Republic. This year, the Cooperative's plum output is expected to increase to nearly 500 tons; expanding the consumption market to large supermarket chains in the southern provinces and maintaining exports to the EU market.

Yen Chau has 10,150 hectares of mango, longan, and plum; of which, over 1,500 hectares of fruit trees are produced according to VietGAP and organic standards; there are 36 export growing area codes, with an area of ​​nearly 700 hectares. The whole district has 3 high-tech agricultural areas, including: plum area in Phieng Khoai commune, longan area in Long Phieng commune and mango area in Chieng Hac commune. The quality of fruit trees has been affirmed, creating prestige in the market. In 2024, the district will consume and export 74,000 tons of various fruits; the value of exported fruits will reach 5.9 million USD.

It is expected that by 2025, the fruit output of Yen Chau district will reach about 87,000 tons; strive to consume domestically and process about 77,620 tons of fruit; export 9,380 tons of fresh fruit to countries: China, Australia, Japan, Korea, Russia, Mongolia, UK...

Mr. Lo The Thi, Vice Chairman of Yen Chau District People's Committee, said: The district is focusing on connecting and inviting businesses and key units to expand the market for the district's key agricultural products. Coordinate with departments and branches to organize online sales training on digital platforms; support cooperatives and production households to participate in fairs, weeks of goods to display and introduce safe agricultural products; seek customers, invite businesses to sign consumption contracts; encourage cooperatives to invest in warehouses, cold storage, and processing facilities to reduce pressure on the consumption of fresh fruit products; build and design product models and packaging, increase attractiveness and competitiveness in the domestic and export markets...

With the implementation of government solutions and the initiative of cooperatives, businesses and people, it is the basis for the consumption and export activities of Yen Chau district in 2025 to achieve high results, contributing to enhancing the value and brand of local fruit products.
