Scene of the Workshop "Improving the quality of news information in local press".
In his report at the workshop, Mr. Le Hoang Bac, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Soc Trang Newspaper, said that, facing the impacts of the information technology revolution, the strong development of the Internet, and the explosion of media, many local press agencies have flexibly sought to adapt and have initially achieved certain successes.
However, with the increasing demand for development, press agencies are required to constantly innovate, improve, and enhance the quality of information content as well as the form of presentation on their news pages/sections/programs.
Therefore, the workshop not only contributed to a general assessment of the information effectiveness of the news page/section/program; summarized the advantages, limitations and causes in the process of informing and reflecting events and current issues on the news pages of some local press agencies in the province, but also shared experiences from the news information activities of some local press agencies in other provinces and cities in the Southwest region...
Mr. Nguyen Minh Chien, Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Information and Communications of Soc Trang province presented a paper at the workshop.
Presenting a paper at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Minh Chien, Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Information and Communications of Soc Trang province, informed about the issue of "Digital transformation of journalism associated with improving the quality of journalism activities".
According to Mr. Chien, digital transformation in journalism is not simply a conversion from traditional to digital forms, but also brings new opportunities for the development of the journalism industry in the future.
Digital transformation provides press agencies with an environment to expand the scope and accessibility of user information. In addition, one of the great benefits of digital transformation in journalism is to increase interaction between journalists and the public…
In particular, digital transformation helps press agencies comprehensively change their operations from the process of collecting, producing, managing data, distributing information content, receiving and processing public feedback, to changing working habits, ways of exchanging and communicating with each other, ways of building apparatus and managing hierarchical systems in the newsroom, creating a new, modern, professional and effective office culture.
Also at the workshop, the delegates discussed and listened to some more presentations on basic issues of news information in local press in the current trend of information competition; especially in the "flat world " of communication with the advantages and challenges of the current situation of strong development of communication technology.
Chairman of Soc Trang Provincial Journalists Association Ta Dinh Nghia spoke at the workshop.
In his concluding remarks at the workshop, Mr. Ta Dinh Nghia, Chairman of the Soc Trang Provincial Journalists Association, highly appreciated the lively discussions. Although brief, they highlighted issues with many different opinions and clarified the contents mentioned in the presentations.
Through the workshop, we can clearly see the nature of scientific research closely linked to practice and work experience through each presentation. From there, we can thoroughly analyze the difficulties that local press in general and newspapers and radio stations in the Mekong Delta provinces (specifically in the South of Hau River area) have encountered and are facing.
At the same time, share lessons learned, highlight creative solutions from many units and provide the workshop with many good practices that each local media agency can fully apply; suggest many "exits" for a number of local press agencies in the region - even for other provinces in the country.
