In recent times, in addition to focusing on improving the quality of vocational training for students in remote areas and ethnic minority areas, Phu Tho Boarding Vocational College for Ethnic Minorities has also focused on investing in facilities and equipment to help make teaching and learning more effective.

Phu Tho Ethnic Minority Vocational College was established in July 2009, is a specialized vocational training facility for ethnic minority children in the province and neighboring mountainous provinces, with special incentives from the State according to Decision No. 1379/QD-TTg dated August 12, 2013 of the Prime Minister.

To improve the quality of teaching and learning, the school has invested in spacious facilities including the Administration Building, theory classrooms, practice buildings, dormitories... along with training equipment for 4 key national occupations: Industrial Electricity, Welding, Automotive Technology, Fashion Sewing with a budget of over 10 billion VND. Thanks to that, it has helped improve learning conditions and affirmed the school's commitment to improving the quality of education, meeting the needs of the labor market and comprehensively developing students.

With the goal of training quality being the core of all activities, the School has built a team of young, enthusiastic staff and teachers with relatively equal professional qualifications, capable of teaching both theory and practice, dedicated to the industry to promote the effectiveness of vocational training and job introduction for ethnic minority children in the area.... Currently, the school focuses on training 6 intermediate-level majors such as: Industrial Electricity, Welding, Automotive Technology, Fashion Sewing, Veterinary Medicine, Cultivation and Plant Protection along with 11 primary-level occupations...

Not only focusing on the goal of knowledge training, with the characteristics that most of the students are ethnic minority children, living in boarding schools, the school's Board of Directors identifies the school as their "second home". In particular, always pay attention to creating the best conditions for students to learn a trade such as: Opening training classes in the locality, creating favorable conditions for students to travel. Fully implementing the rights and policies of students, ethnic boarding students; policy subjects are poor households, ethnic minority youth in mountainous areas who go to school are supported with meal and travel expenses according to the State's regulations...

In addition, students also participate in useful boarding and extracurricular activities to equip them with knowledge and soft skills such as: Growing vegetables, participating in life skills classes on traffic safety, preventing school violence, preventing drowning, competing in sports, performing arts, cleaning and greening the educational environment... These activities have helped students feel comfortable and love the environment where they live and study; creating peace of mind for parents when sending their children to school; reducing the rate of students dropping out of school halfway.

Student Ha Van Giap in Han area, Kha Cuu commune, who is studying in the Automotive Technology class, shared: "The State supports me with 500,000 VND/month for food, but I don't have to pay for accommodation, electricity and water, so I feel very secure in studying."

Implementing sub-project 3, Project 5 of the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas on Developing Vocational Education and Job Creation for Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas Workers in accordance with the natural conditions and customs of the region, associated with job creation after training; Phu Tho Boarding Ethnic Minority Vocational College has been supported to invest in repairing and maintaining a number of construction items, workshops, classrooms, dormitories and facilities serving the living and training of learners. Purchasing machinery and equipment for training at the Intermediate level of the following occupations: Industrial Electricity, Automotive Technology, Welding, Cultivation and Plant Protection; Veterinary Medicine, Fashion Sewing. Supporting the application of information technology, digital transformation in teaching and learning management...

The average annual enrollment rate always meets and exceeds the assigned plan target. On average, the school trains about 550 students per year. Over the past 10 years, Phu Tho Ethnic Minority Vocational College has trained and granted certificates to nearly 8,000 people.

Ms. Dinh Thi Minh Thuc - Vice Principal in charge of Phu Tho Boarding Ethnic Vocational College said: “In recent times, the school has regularly innovated training and student affairs to suit ethnic minority students. Continue to train vocational groups closely linked to production practices. Send students to practice and work in welding, electrical, and automobile workshops in the commune and communes in the district; garment workshops and garment companies in industrial parks in and outside the province. At the same time, continue to focus on improving training quality associated with investment in teaching facilities, meeting market needs”.

Through its continuous efforts, Phu Tho Ethnic Boarding Vocational College has affirmed its position and the trust of the people in Thanh Son district and neighboring areas. Thereby, contributing to increasing income and improving the lives of ethnic minority children.
