NDO - On the afternoon of November 25, in Cam Ranh city, Khanh Hoa province, the Navy coordinated with Military Regions 4, 5, 7, and 9 to organize the closing ceremony of the Good Ship Competition and the 2024 Standing Militia Squadron Ship Training Sports Festival.


Rear Admiral Phan Tuan Hung, Deputy Commander of the Navy, Head of the Organizing Committee of the competition and sports festival chaired the event. Attending were Major General Nguyen Van Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Militia and Self-Defense Forces, General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

The 2024 Good Ship Competition and Training Sports Festival for the Standing Militia Fleet will take place from November 11 in 4 regions: Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Kien Giang.

This is the first time the Navy has been assigned by the Ministry of National Defense to organize the Good Ship Competition and the Standing Militia Squadron Ship Training Competition. The Navy has made great efforts and coordinated well with local agencies and units to research, develop and perfect the regulations. The Jury has actively and proactively built strict competition documents, in accordance with regulations, close to the actual situation, training mission requirements, and combat readiness.

Rear Admiral Phan Tuan Hung, Deputy Commander of the Navy: It is necessary to continue improving the quality of training and combat practice for the standing militia squadron units.

The results of the competition and sports festival achieved the objectives and requirements in terms of form, organization, methods and content in both depth and breadth. Through the competition and sports festival, it contributed to improving the combat readiness, the ability to operate and master technical equipment and the independence of the regular militia force at sea, meeting the requirements of the task of protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands.

As a result, 100% of participating ships achieved Fair and Excellent results in the Good Ship Competition (of which 63% achieved Excellent results); 100% of ships achieved Fair and Excellent results in the Ship Training Competition (of which 57.8% achieved Excellent results). Overall results showed that 100% of ships achieved Fair and Excellent results (of which 63.1% achieved Excellent results). Ships belonging to the Standing Militia Fleet, Da Nang City Military Command won First Prize; two ships of the Standing Militia Fleet of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province and Khanh Hoa Province won Second Prize; Third Prize went to ships of the Standing Militia Fleets of Quang Ngai, Kien Giang and Quang Tri Provinces.

In his closing speech, Rear Admiral Phan Tuan Hung, Deputy Commander of the Navy, emphasized that Party committees and commanders of agencies and units continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the resolutions of superiors on "Improving training quality in the 2023-2030 period and the following years; focusing on improving the comprehensive leadership capacity and combat strength of the Party organization in each task.

Pay attention to the material and spiritual life and focus on educating officers and soldiers of the standing militia squadron to have a strong political stance, high determination, good technical and tactical skills, and creative thinking ability in performing tasks; promote initiatives and technical improvements applied to the exploitation, preservation, and maintenance of technical equipment, striving for each ship to become a good ship, a regular, model ship.

Rear Admiral Phan Tuan Hung and Major General Nguyen Van Dong presented awards from the General Staff to the winning teams in the competition and sports festival.

Rear Admiral Phan Tuan Hung also reminded the Party committees and commanders of the units to draw lessons and develop plans to overcome shortcomings and limitations in competitions and sports events; review and summarize the contents that are still inadequate and inconsistent in technical assurance work, implementation of combat deployment tables, ship commands... and propose to the competent agencies of the Ministry of National Defense to edit, supplement, and perfect the implementation in a unified manner throughout the force.

On this occasion, the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army awarded 38 collectives and 31 individuals with outstanding achievements in participating in the competition and serving and ensuring the competition and sports festival.
