On April 10, Cho Ray Hospital announced that it had just received and treated a patient in critical condition after jogging.
According to Dr. Vo Thi Doan Thuc, Deputy Head of the Intensive Care Unit, Area D, Cho Ray Hospital, the patient is a 32-year-old male, admitted to the hospital on April 8 in a coma and on a ventilator.
Medical history shows that the man was participating in a 42km running race when he experienced convulsions and fell into a coma. He was then rushed to a local hospital.

Through examination and paraclinical tests, the doctor determined that the patient had heat shock, liver and kidney damage, and impaired consciousness. The team performed mechanical ventilation, blood filtration, and supportive treatment.
After a day, the patient's condition improved, the endotracheal tube was removed, he was breathing air on his own, and his vital signs were stable. Because he still had liver and kidney failure, he had to continue dialysis and liver function support treatment.
According to BSCK2 Vo Thi Doan Thuc, sports have a positive impact on health. Jogging in particular helps improve cardiovascular health, control blood sugar, weight, and improve mental health.
However, running too hard also has risks such as myositis, muscle wasting, electrolyte disturbances. Especially for people with underlying cardiovascular disease, if running too hard, sudden death or stroke can occur.
Therefore, runners need to practice for a long time. Initially, they can walk slowly and gradually increase the intensity according to their physical strength and health.
