According to the patient, he has been smoking marijuana, laughing gas, and e-cigarettes for over a year. For the past 4 months, he has stopped using laughing gas but still uses marijuana and e-cigarettes.
BSCKII. Nguyen Dinh Tuan - Neurology Specialist, Medlatec General Hospital - said that when examining the patient's whole body, pulse, blood pressure and vital signs, there was nothing unusual. However, the psychiatric examination showed behavioral disorders, mild mania, delusions of persecution and some other psychiatric symptoms.
The patient was initially diagnosed with psychotic and behavioral disorders due to the use of hallucinogens, so the patient was assigned to undergo biochemical tests and diagnostic imaging techniques. The rapid screening test results were positive for THC (marijuana), the other biochemical test results had some changes.
After a detailed examination, the doctor diagnosed the patient with mental and behavioral disorders due to cannabis use (Addiction Syndrome - F12.2) and should be advised to receive specialized inpatient treatment.

According to doctors, using marijuana, smoking electronic cigarettes, or inhaling laughing gas gives users a feeling of excitement, relaxation, and pleasure... but the use of these addictive substances is considered a "combo" of catalysts that are harmful to health. In particular, marijuana affects the body very seriously and long-term, in all three aspects: brain, physical, and mental.
In adolescents, marijuana use can impair thinking, memory, and learning. Smoking marijuana can affect breathing, increase heart rate, and cause nausea and severe vomiting.
In cases of using addictive substances such as laughing gas, marijuana, and e-cigarettes, doctors say it is often found in people with unstable jobs, unstable families, and due to laxity or lack of strict management from the family, this situation occurs more and more in young people.
According to the doctor, it is worrying that the situation of electronic cigarette smoking in schools is increasing, because young people consider it a trendy trend, a way to assert themselves, so at first, even though it is just a trial, they are then attracted by the feeling of refreshment, joy, and excitement that they cannot "quit".
