Surpassing more than 126,000 candidates, Phan Le Thuc Bao, a second-year student at the University of Natural Sciences in Ho Chi Minh City, was the valedictorian of the first round of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam with a score of 1,060/1,200. Bao's test results included 233 points in Vietnamese, 257 points in English, 270 points in Math, and 300 points in Scientific Thinking.

This year's competency assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City National University had 126,297 candidates, only 2 exams achieved scores of 1,051-1,100; 140 exams had scores of 1,001-1,050. The average score of the exam was 618.4. The lowest score was 40.

Two years ago (2023), when he was a 12th grade student at Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted (Hue), Phan Le Thuc Bao achieved the highest score in the second round of the competency assessment exam. Including both rounds of exams in 2023, Thuc Bao was the valedictorian with 1,133 points/1,200 points.

At that time, this male student got a perfect score of 300 in Math - Logic - Data Analysis, 173 points in Vietnamese, 186 points in English, 287 points in Natural Sciences and 187 points in Social Sciences.

This male student took the first round of the exam and scored 1,052 points, in the top 20 people with the highest scores.

Then Phan Le Thuc Bao was admitted to the Computer Science major at the University of Natural Sciences in Ho Chi Minh City and became the valedictorian of the school's competency assessment admission method.

At that time, sharing with Ho Chi Minh City National University, Thuc Bao said that to have a good learning spirit, determining clear learning goals is the core. For Bao, studying is not only a hobby but also the best path to future success. Studying well is the way for Bao to be able to approach the desired living and working environment.

Thuc Bao said that his studying is quite spontaneous. Every day, besides going to school and attending extra classes, Bao spends about 30 minutes to 1 hour in the afternoon and 1-2 hours in the evening studying. The remaining time is spent on housework, relaxing activities, and entertainment. On Sundays, Bao participates in the school's robotics club and soccer.

Even though he became valedictorian this year, this male student has no intention of applying to other majors.
