Nam Po needs to re-evaluate the effectiveness of centralized domestic water supply projects in the area.

Comrade Giang Thi Hoa, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, spoke at the working session with the People's Committee of Nam Po district.

In the period of 2021 - 2024, Nam Po district invested in building, upgrading and repairing 34 works with a total cost of over 103 billion VND from the central and local budgets. The whole district currently has 108 centralized domestic water supply works; of which more than 92 works are operating effectively, meeting the people's daily needs for clean water.

However, the use and protection of centralized water supply works have not been managed and maintained regularly; many works are degraded, damaged, and operate ineffectively; the protection of the works is difficult; some works have lost their upstream water pipes or are damaged; managers mainly work part-time or have no expertise.

Speaking at the working session, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Giang Thi Hoa suggested that Nam Po district focus on reviewing and re-evaluating the effectiveness of centralized domestic water supply works in the area; directing communes to develop solutions to improve the operational efficiency of water supply works management and operation teams; stepping up propaganda and mobilizing people to raise awareness and responsibility in exploiting and using domestic water supply works. For long-term investment works that have been damaged or are no longer in operation, if eligible, consider and liquidate them according to regulations.

Previously, the monitoring team inspected a number of domestic water supply works in two communes: Pa Tan and Na Hy, Nam Po district./.
