Prisoners escaped on October 16.
BIBB COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
NBC News reported that the four inmates were Joey Fournier, 52 years old; Marc Kerry Anderson, 24 years old; Johnifer Dernard Barnwell, 37 years old and Chavis Demaryo Stokes, 29 years old. Inmate Fournier was sentenced for murder.
Bibb County is about 85 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia.
The Bibb County Sheriff's Office said the inmates broke windows, cut fences and escaped from the Bibb County Detention Center around 3 a.m. Oct. 16.
They then got into a waiting Dodge Challenger and left.
The Bibb County School District announced a "soft lockdown" for 38 schools, meaning classes will continue, but no outdoor activities will be allowed on school grounds.
At a press conference, Bibb County Sheriff David Davis warned that the inmates could be anywhere, and police were unclear whether the group was still together or had split up.
In addition to the sheriff's office, the Southeast Fugitive Task Force, the FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service are involved in the effort to track down the escaped inmates.
