'My Son and Hoi An have created cultural colors'

On the morning of December 3, during a working trip to Quang Nam province, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai and his delegation visited and worked with the Management Board of My Son Cultural Heritage in Duy Xuyen District.

On this occasion, the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board also organized activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of My Son being recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage (December 4, 1999 - December 4, 2024).

Reporting to the working delegation, Mr. Nguyen Cong Khiet, Director of the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board, said that over the past 25 years, the management and conservation of the temple complex has always received attention from the Central Government, localities and international organizations.

From a relic destroyed by time and war, the architectural works at My Son have been repaired, reinforced, and restored, escaping ruin and entering a stable and sustainable phase.

The most outstanding project in the management and conservation of My Son Temple Complex after 25 years of being honored is the restoration project of tower group G under the 3-party cooperation program between the Italian Government, UNESCO and Vietnam.

In addition, from 2011 to 2015, the Institute for Monuments Conservation implemented the E7 tower restoration project. The project to preserve and embellish the world cultural heritage of My Son relic site, groups of temples and towers A, H, K, supported by the Government of India from 2016 to 2022. In addition, the My Son exhibition and research house was built with funding from JICA (Japan) in 2005...

At the survey, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai expressed his joy at being present on the occasion of the locality celebrating the 25th anniversary of the My Son Temple Complex being recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage.

At the same time, he emphasized that this is a proud result after many years of efforts in management and conservation, opening up opportunities for My Son Temple Complex to be known by international organizations, researchers, archaeologists and a large number of domestic and international tourists.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai highly appreciated the efforts of the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board in preserving and restoring the tower groups associated with promoting the heritage values ​​over the past time.

Mr. Hai said that, overcoming difficulties, My Son and Hoi An ancient town have created cultural colors, strongly attracting tourists when coming to Quang Nam land.

Mr. Hai also requested the officials and leaders of the My Son Cultural Heritage Management Board as well as the local government to further strengthen the work of diversifying tourism products associated with ecology, diversifying types of tourism such as culture, ecology, entertainment; at the same time, coordinate with relevant units to have solutions to preserve and promote My Son sustainably, stably and long-term; avoid negative impacts from the process of conservation and unsustainable development.
