US says several citizens may have been killed or captured in Israel-Hamas conflict

"We have reports that some Americans may be among the dead. We are actively working to verify those reports...We have also seen reports of hostages," Secretary of State Blinken said on an NBC program on October 8.

The US Embassy in Israel said on October 7 that the embassy was "closely monitoring" the situation and "aware that there have been casualties as a result of these incidents," according to Newsweek .
