"Russia has received shipments of ballistic missiles (from Iran) and has the ability to use them in the coming weeks in Ukraine, against the Ukrainian people," US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in London on September 10, according to AFP.
The US Secretary of State said that Iran's supply of missiles could help Russia use its arsenal to strike targets further from the front line, while the new missiles would be used for closer targets.

The diplomat said Russia was sharing nuclear and space-related technology with Iran as part of a swap deal. Blinken said the US would announce new sanctions on Iran on September 10, including measures targeting Iran Air.
The statements were made by Mr. Blinken at a press conference with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy. The two foreign ministers announced that they would travel to Ukraine together this week.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Iran had transferred missiles to Russia. The Financial Times later quoted senior Ukrainian officials as saying that more than 200 Fath-360 short-range ballistic missiles had been delivered to Russia’s Caspian Sea port this week.
Iran has denied the information while Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on September 9 neither denied nor confirmed it, only saying that Iran is an important partner of Russia and the two countries are developing cooperation in all areas, including the most sensitive areas.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summoned Iran's diplomatic representative on the same day to warn of "devastating and irreparable consequences" for bilateral relations if Tehran indeed supplied ballistic missiles to Moscow.
Ukrainian President's chief of staff Andriy Yermak said the sanctions were a positive step but the West needed to allow Ukraine to use weapons against military targets in Russia, provide more long-range missiles and strengthen Kyiv's air defenses.

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said on September 10 that Iran’s supply was a major and worrying escalation. When asked if Britain had given Ukraine the green light to use the Storm Shadow long-range missile to attack Russian territory, Lammy declined to comment.
According to Reuters, the three countries of Britain, France and Germany issued a joint statement condemning Iran's actions and will impose sanctions on Iran Air and cancel bilateral air service agreements with Tehran.
