In 2022, USAID and the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense will complete dioxin remediation of the area outside Bien Hoa Airport (near Gate 2) and hand it over to the locality to be used as a community recreation area, complete the cleanup of the first area of the airport (the southwest area), and complete the construction of a long-term storage area for excavated low-concentration dioxin-contaminated soil.
The dioxin remediation project at Bien Hoa airport is expected to take 10 years to complete, with a total cost of up to 450 million USD.
