(CLO) US President Donald Trump has detailed the plan of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) led by billionaire Elon Musk. Specifically, after investigating the Department of Finance and the Department of Education, this US anti-corruption and waste agency will also investigate the Department of Defense.
The US president announced the plan to Fox News' main political anchor Bret Baier in an exclusive interview ahead of the Super Bowl, saying the billionaire businessman was a trusted ally in delivering on his promise to cut red tape.
"I'm going to tell him soon... go check the Department of Education. He'll find the same thing. Then I'm going into the military. Check the military. We're going to find billions, hundreds of billions of dollars in fraud and abuse, and the people elected me to do it."

Baier's interview with President Trump, which took place just hours before the Super Bowl LIX coin toss, focused on the changes the Trump administration has enacted since he took office last month and the first 100 days of his presidency.
Among those changes is the implementation of DOGE. Since January 20, the unit has aimed to uncover wrongdoing by federal agencies by tracking where money goes. This almost led to the closure of USAID, after discovering numerous corruption and waste problems at the US global aid organization.
The moves have drawn outrage from some Democrats. Thirty House Democrats tried to enter the Department of Education building in Washington on Friday morning to meet with acting Education Secretary Denise L. Carter, but were blocked by security.
President Trump and Republicans have backed shutting down the Department of Education, saying states would handle education better. Trump said Tuesday that if Linda McMahon, his pick for education secretary, is confirmed, she should work to “take herself out of the job.”
“People want me to find ‘wasteful spending,’” Trump told Baier. “And I’ve had a tremendous amount of help from Elon Musk, he’s been fantastic.”
