(CLO) On February 13, billionaire Elon Musk called on the United States to "mind its own business instead of promoting regime change everywhere" at the World Government Summit in Dubai (UAE).
He also called for "abolishing entire agencies" to reduce spending and restructure the US government's priorities, arguing that the current administration is governed by "the laws of the bureaucracy as opposed to the laws of the people."
In his speech, Musk also addressed the role of the United States on the international stage. He criticized the US's approach to interfering in the internal affairs of other countries, while supporting Mr. Trump's policy of cutting the budgets of organizations such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the National Endowment for Democracy.
According to Mr. Musk, " America should mind its own business instead of promoting regime change everywhere."

In parallel with these announcements, the Trump administration has begun mass layoffs of federal employees, focusing on those on probation. According to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), hundreds of thousands of employees could be affected, although the exact number has not been released.
The Department of Veterans Affairs has confirmed that it has laid off more than 1,000 employees, while the Departments of Education and Housing have also begun cutting staff. Additionally, the U.S. Forest Service is expected to terminate contracts with at least 3,400 employees.
Along with the layoffs, Mr. Trump announced a federal hiring freeze on the first day of his second term, preventing vacancies from being filled and new positions from being created in most cases.
