On April 18, the Vietnamese women's futsal team had a friendly match during a training session in Ho Chi Minh City, preparing for the final round of the 2025 Asian women's futsal tournament. The "blue team" of the national women's futsal players is the Xa Store futsal team.

Coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team had a rewarding and dramatic match. The result was a 4-4 draw. This was also the only domestic friendly match before the end of the first preparation phase.
Evaluating the domestic training session, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang said: “This is an opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate what the team has practiced and how the game is played, thereby gaining experience and assembling the team for the final round.
During the quality training trip in Japan, we have a friendly match with the Japanese women's futsal team, one of the top teams in Asia, or in other words, one of the strongest opponents in the region. This is an opportunity for the players to prepare mentally, to catch up when the final round has many strong teams to have better preparation".
Commenting on the opponents in the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang said that Vietnam's group includes Iran, the team that is considered to have the highest position in the quarterfinals. The coaching staff also has plans and playing styles to counter and will play their best against Iran.
The two teams Hong Kong (China) and the Philippines are on par with each other. We will have a chance to win. The team aims to be the first to pass the group stage before calculating the plan and playing style to go as far as possible and win a place in the upcoming world cup.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese women's futsal team will enter phase 2, going to Japan for training on April 20. It is expected that the team will have 2 more friendly matches, one match with the club futsal team and one friendly match with the Japanese women's futsal team on April 25.
After completing the training in Japan, the Vietnamese women's futsal team will go to China on May 1, have another friendly match with the Chinese women's futsal team (expected on May 3), before officially participating in the 2025 Asian women's futsal finals.
According to the format of the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship, the top six teams in each group, along with the two third-placed teams with the best results, will advance to the quarter-finals.
The champions, runners-up and third-placed teams of Asia will be granted tickets to the Women's Futsal World Cup. In case the Philippines (World Cup host) reaches the semi-finals, Asia will be awarded four spots. The Vietnamese women's futsal team needs to reach at least the semi-finals to keep their hopes of attending the World Cup alive.
In the Vietnamese women's futsal team, Thuy Trang is the name that is receiving a lot of attention. She was with the Vietnamese women's team at the 2023 World Cup on the 11-a-side field. If she gets a ticket to the Women's Futsal World Cup, it will be a personal miracle for this midfielder.
In addition to Thuy Trang, other young players who are developing well and were called up in the previous training session include Thu Xuan and KThua. In the past year, Thuy Trang, KThua and Hong Nhung have achieved certain successes when they played impressively with the Ho Chi Minh City team to reach the semi-finals of the 2024-2025 Asian Women's Club Championship and also won the 2025 National Women's Cup.
Thuy Trang said: “That is continuous luck for Trang. This is also the motivation, pushing me to contribute to the success of Vietnamese futsal. In the past, I competed with the Ho Chi Minh City women's team, returning to the team this time, I myself am a bit worried and confused. However, I believe my teammates will help me and aim for the highest achievement in the upcoming Asian women's futsal finals."
U23 Vietnam prepares for the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament
U23 Vietnam's journey to defend the Southeast Asian championship title will take place in Indonesia in July 2025.
After 4 times organizing the U23 Southeast Asian tournament, the U23 Vietnam team is the most successful team with two consecutive championships. In 2022, despite the serious impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the U23 Vietnam team played bravely and excellently defeated Thailand 1-0 in the final to win the championship. A year later, at the 2023 tournament, the red-shirted army continued to affirm their position when successfully defending the championship after a thrilling victory over Indonesia on penalties.
Looking forward to the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament as well as the two key goals of the year, the 2026 Asian U23 qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has proactively developed a very early preparation plan for the national U23 team. From 2024 to present, the Vietnam U23 team has had many training sessions coinciding with the FIFA Days with the national team, and has also participated in two international friendly tournaments, the U22 CFA Team China 2024 and 2025, with the participation of many quality opponents.
In addition, VFF and head coach Kim Sang Sik have created conditions for young players with potential to compete and gain experience early on, in which some excellent players have also been tested at the national team level and left their mark at the ASEAN Cup 2024.
With proactive and methodical preparation and a young but potential force, the Vietnam U23 team continues to show great determination in the journey to defend the throne at the regional U23 arena.
This is the first time Indonesia has officially hosted this tournament since 2005. Previously, Indonesia was chosen to host in 2011, but the tournament was canceled because the renovation of Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium - the main competition venue - was not completed. ( HH )
