The regulation is stated in the regular university admission regulations of Hanoi National University from 2025 which have just been issued.
This year, 12 schools use the following main admission methods: direct admission and priority admission; based on high school graduation exam results; HSA capacity assessment test results.
In addition, schools can use the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test scores, international SAT, A-Level, ACT certificates. Schools with specific programs and majors can consider combining aptitude test scores or interviews with academic records, graduation exam scores, competency assessment test results or international certificates.
With the method of considering graduation exam scores or transcripts, schools can convert international language certificates into foreign language scores in a combination with a weight of no more than 50%, as prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training.
The conversion rates of IELTS and TOEFL certificates of 12 schools under Hanoi National University are as follows:

Hanoi National University said it does not accept online exam certificates.
12 schools of Hanoi National University (VNU) this year recruited nearly 20,300 students. Last year, 13 units of Hanoi National University recruited 18,000 full-time university students for 150 majors/training programs.
For the full-time program, the University of Technology enrolls the most students with 3,900, an increase of 940 compared to last year. The above number does not include the quota for majors and training programs expected to open in 2025.
