1. Safe distance between 2 vehicles when participating in traffic
According to Article 11 of Circular 31/2019/TT-BGTVT, the safe distance between two vehicles when participating in traffic on the road is as follows:
- When driving on the road, drivers and specialized motorbike drivers must keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of them; in places where there is a sign "Minimum distance between two vehicles", the distance must be no less than the value indicated on the sign.
- In dry road conditions, the safe distance for each speed is specified as follows:
+ If the speed is 60km/h, the minimum safe distance is 35m.
+ If the speed is over 60 - 80km/h, the minimum safe distance is 55m.
+ If the speed is above 80 - 100km/h, the minimum safe distance is 70m.
+ If the speed is above 100 - 120km/h, the minimum safe distance is 100m.
- When driving at a speed below 60km/h, the driver must proactively maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of him/her; this distance depends on the density of vehicles and the actual traffic situation to ensure traffic safety.
- When it is raining, foggy, the road surface is slippery, the road has winding terrain, steep passes, limited visibility, the driver must adjust the appropriate safety distance greater than the value indicated on the sign or the value specified when the road surface is dry as mentioned above.
