On August 4th, according to information from the Hau Giang Department of Education and Training, the department has just issued new regulations on tuition fees for public preschools, primary and secondary schools, and continuing education institutions from the 2024-2025 school year to the 2025-2026 school year.
From the 2024-2025 school year, tuition fees in Hau Giang will differ between educational levels and there will be a significant difference between urban and rural areas.
Accordingly, for the next two academic years, tuition fees in Hau Giang will differ between educational levels and there will be a significant disparity between urban and rural areas.
Specifically, for the 2024-2025 school year, tuition fees in urban areas (including wards and towns in districts, towns, and cities) are as follows: preschool (excluding 5-year-old preschool children) 92,000 VND/student/month; primary and lower secondary schools 60,000 VND/student/month; continuing education at lower secondary and upper secondary levels 65,000 VND/student/month; continuing education at upper secondary level 80,000 VND/student/month.
For rural areas (including communes in districts, towns, and cities) and ethnic minority regions, the tuition fee is 35,000 VND/student/month for preschool; 30,000 VND/student/month for primary and lower secondary education; 50,000 VND/student/month for lower secondary continuing education; 35,000 VND/student/month for upper secondary education; and 65,000 VND/student/month for upper secondary continuing education.
By the 2025-2026 school year, tuition fees will remain unchanged for all four levels of education: preschool, primary school, high school, and continuing education at the high school level. Tuition fees will be waived for lower secondary school and continuing education at the lower secondary level.
Hau Giang province also stipulates that, for schools with branches or satellite campuses, tuition fees are determined at the students' learning locations. In the case of online learning, the tuition fee is 50% of the standard tuition fee. If both in-person and online learning are conducted in a given month, the fee will be charged according to the online learning rate.
For months where the actual learning time (including online learning and make-up classes at school) is less than 15 days (including the number of days off as per regulations), a fee of half a month will be charged; for months with 15 days or more, a full month's fee will be charged.
Since primary education is free of charge according to state regulations, the tuition fee for primary school students as stipulated above serves as the basis for the state to provide financial support for tuition fees to students in private educational institutions in areas where there are insufficient public schools.
