TPO - According to the forecast from the meteorological agency, this year's rainy season in the South will end later than the average of many years, commonly between November 25 and December 5.

Forecasting the weather situation in the last months of the year, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that the total rainfall from September to November 2024 in the Ho Chi Minh City area will be 10-20% higher than the average of many years.

Specifically, September 2024: Total rainfall will be higher than the average of many years with total monthly rainfall generally around 250-450mm. Heavy rain with many days of widespread rain; there will likely be widespread rain with some places having moderate to heavy rain lasting 5-7 days.

October 2024: Total rainfall is approximately equal to or higher than the multi-year average with total monthly rainfall generally ranging from 220-450mm. Heavy rain with several widespread spells of moderate to heavy rain in some places lasting 5-10 days.

November 2024: In the first half of the month, most of the region is likely to still experience rainy season weather. This year's rainy season ends late, after the rainy season ends, there will still be unseasonal rains with quite a large area of rain and generally light to moderate rainfall.

The forecast for the end of the 2024 rainy season is approximately 5-10 days later than the multi-year average, generally between November 25 and December 5.

September and October are likely to have many widespread rains with some places having moderate to heavy rain for a long time. In the first half of November, there will also be 1-2 widespread rains but these rains will be generally small to moderate in amount, heavy rain will not be as common anymore.

“In September and October, despite heavy rain, the average temperature still tends to be higher than the average of many years. The average temperature in Ho Chi Minh City in September, October and November is at a level close to or higher than the average of many years,” said the Southern Hydrometeorological Station.

Also according to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, from mid-October onwards, cold air will intensify to the South, compressing the low pressure trough to the South and the low pressure trough now has an axis passing through the Southern region. Beware of the possibility that low pressure areas and tropical depressions forming in the South East Sea can affect the sea area of Ho Chi Minh City and coastal areas of the Southern region.

From now until the end of the 2024 storm season, there will likely be about 4-7 storms in the East Sea. Be careful when storms and tropical depressions appear in the East Sea, which will cause strong southwest winds and widespread thunderstorms with moderate, heavy to very heavy rain in the Ho Chi Minh City area.

“From December 2024 to February 2025, the total rainfall will be approximately the average of many years in most of the Southern region. During the dry months of late 2024 and early 2025, there is a possibility of quite a lot of unseasonal rain with days of light to moderate rain,” said the Southern Hydrometeorological Station.
