On June 20, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the results of the 10th grade entrance exam in 2023. Of which, 299 candidates scored 9 points or higher in Literature. 121 candidates scored 10 points in Math, compared to 190 candidates last year.
In English alone, this year 2,147 candidates scored 10 points. This number is 4.5 times higher than in 2022 when only 468 candidates scored 10 points (including 7 French exams and 3 Japanese exams).
Mr. Huynh Thanh Phu, Principal of Bui Thi Xuan High School (District 1) said that this year's score distribution is better than last year's, with a high percentage of excellent scores. This shows that the quality of teaching and learning English has improved over the years.
According to Mr. Phu, this year there will be no cases where scores below 10 are still considered. In particular, there are about 11,000 candidates who scored 23 or higher.

"With such a high score range, it is expected that the top schools will increase their benchmark scores by 0.5 - 1 point; the middle schools will increase slightly by 0.25 - 0.5 points ," Mr. Phu commented.
According to regulations of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, after receiving exam scores, candidates can submit appeal applications from June 21 to June 24.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, candidates admitted to schools and directly admitted will submit their admission applications from June 25 to before 4:00 p.m. on June 29. During this time, if candidates do not submit their admission applications, the school will remove their names from the admission list.
June 30th, the results of the exam review will be announced. Candidates who have passed the exam will submit their application for admission to specialized schools and integrated classes on July 5th after receiving the results of the review.
By July 10, the Department will announce the admission benchmark scores and the list of candidates admitted to regular grade 10 of public schools.
