Mu Cang Chai strengthens handling of violations in the forestry sector

In order to maintain the green color of the forests, in the first months of 2025, the district has synchronously deployed many drastic measures, especially strengthening strict handling of violations of the Forestry Law.

Since the beginning of the year, the Mu Cang Chai District Forest Protection Department has directed specialized departments and local Forest Protection Stations to strengthen inspection and supervision. The unit also closely coordinates with the authorities of communes and towns to promptly detect and prevent violations.

In the first quarter of 2025, the District Forest Protection Department and relevant agencies handled a total of 28 violations of the Forestry Law.

Of which, the District Forest Protection Department directly handled 13 cases, including: illegal logging (2 cases), illegal deforestation (6 cases), illegal transportation, storage, trading, and processing of forest products (4 cases) and violations of regulations on forest fire prevention and fighting (1 case). Notable confiscated evidence included 1,956 m³ of sawn timber of various types, including many precious woods in group IIA such as Pơ mu. The total amount of money collected for the budget from the cases handled by the District Forest Protection Department reached 134,250,000 VND. The People's Committees of communes and towns also handled 15 cases, mainly illegal logging (7 cases), forest encroachment and occupation (4 cases), illegal transportation of forest products (3 cases) and violations of the State's general regulations on forest protection (1 case). The total amount of money collected for the budget from these cases was 17,500,000 VND.

Notably, all violations were handled seriously, in compliance with legal regulations. To improve the effectiveness of forest protection, Mu Cang Chai District Forest Protection Department has increased coordination with functional forces such as the Police, the Army, as well as local authorities at all levels. In parallel, the propaganda and dissemination of the Forestry Law has also been promoted with many diverse forms, suitable for each subject, from village and residential group meetings to mass media.

The positive results in the first 3 months of 2025 have demonstrated the high determination of authorities at all levels, functional agencies and people of Mu Cang Chai in forest protection. In the coming time, the district will continue to synchronously deploy solutions, from increasing patrols, controlling, strictly handling violations to promoting propaganda and raising people's awareness. The goal is to maintain and sustainably develop valuable forest resources, contributing to the overall development of Yen Bai province.
