Mu Cang Chai opens the Mong Panpipe Festival and To Day Flower Festival in 2024

Yen Bai - Tonight - December 27, the People's Committee of Mu Cang Chai district officially opened the Mong Panpipe Festival and the To Day Flower Festival 2024, kicking off activities to welcome the new spring of 2025.

Attending the opening ceremony were comrade Nguyen Tuan Anh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades in the Provincial Party Standing Committee; leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors; leaders of Tram Tau district, Van Chan district, Nghia Lo town, Yen Bai city; Muong La district, Bac Yen, Son La province; Than Uyen district, Lai Chau province; Sa Pa town, Lao Cai province; artisans, actors, people of Mu Cang Chai district and a large number of domestic and foreign tourists...


Vice Chairman of Mu Cang Chai District People's Committee Luong Thi Xuyen delivered the opening speech of the Festival.


Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Festival, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee Luong Thi Xuyen emphasized: The Khen Mong Festival and the To Day Flower Festival along with spring welcoming activities in 2025 have important significance, being an opportunity for Mu Cang Chai district to strengthen promotional activities, introduce the potential strengths, natural beauty, and people of the highland land of Mu Cang Chai, contributing to attracting tourists to visit and experience all four seasons of the year.


The highlight of the Opening Ceremony is the art program with the theme "Flower flute dance". The program includes 3 chapters: Sound and the great forest, Returning to the festival land, Mu Cang Chai - the aspiration to reach far with elaborately and magnificently staged performances, with the participation of famous artists, singers and professional and non-professional singers and actors.


The performances depicted the unique features of the cultural identity of ethnic groups, especially honoring the value of the Mong panpipe that has been associated with the Mong people for generations, depicting the beauty of To Day flowers, Mu Cang Chai terraced fields, and the crystallization of festival culture, the quintessence of the identity of the Northwest in general and Mu Cang Chai district in particular.


The special art program at the Opening Ceremony has the theme "Flower flute dance".


The art program is elaborately and grandly staged with the participation of famous artists.


In chapter 1 - Sound and the Great Forest, the legend of the Mong panpipe has been recreated, which has been closely associated with the cultural and spiritual life of the Mong people for many generations. Panpipe is an indispensable musical instrument, a part of the unique cultural features of the people, the soul, the unique cultural features preserved and developed by the Mong people. Along with that, the legend of the To Day flower, a symbol of the highland mountains and forests, is recreated, showing that a new spring has come to the highlands of Mu Cang Chai.


Chapter 2 has the theme of Festival Land, recreating the space of Mu Cang Chai highland - a land rich in revolutionary traditions with unique and distinctive cultural identity and majestic natural beauty along with special cultural festivals, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the immense space, a world full of vitality appears with countless interesting things waiting for us to discover and conquer.


Chapter 3 has the theme Mu Cang Chai - the aspiration to reach far, with songs expressing the pride of Mu Cang Chai people, determination, solidarity, unity, all for the change of Mu Cang Chai homeland on the new path of development.


The opening ceremony officially opened a series of diverse and unique activities, bringing attractive and meaningful experiences to visitors and people of Mu Cang Chai such as: displaying, introducing and selling local agricultural products; recreating Mong cultural space; Mong flute competition; cultural and artistic activities; "Colorful To Day Flowers" art exhibition.


Along with that are activities to welcome spring 2025 such as: Art program with the theme "Spring in the Highlands", 2025 Banh Day pounding festival, Mong people's spinning top performance, folk games; free art performances; paragliding experience activities; Cloud hunting journey - Discovering To Day flowers... promising to bring people and tourists a completely new and attractive experience space.


Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh and representatives of the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council awarded the Certificate of Recognition of Vietnam Heritage Tree to Mu Cang Chai district.


Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province awarded the certificate of copyright registration for traditional festivals to Mu Cang Chai district.


At the program, the Vietnam Heritage Tree Council awarded the Certificate of Vietnam Heritage Tree recognition to 04 trees, belonging to 02 families including: 01 po mu tree and 03 ironwood trees in Na Hang village, Che Tao commune for Mu Cang Chai district; The Copyright Department, Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism awarded the certificate of copyright registration to traditional festivals of Mu Cang Chai district, including: Gia Banh Day Festival, Mua Vang Festival, To Day Flower Festival and Paragliding Festival "Flying over the scenic area" by the authors: Le Trong Khang, Luong Thi Xuyen, Tran Trung Kien and Hoang Thi Chieu.


This is an important work, helping to affirm the tourism brand and unique, characteristic tourism products of Mu Cang Chai, at the same time, it is also a recognition of the efforts of the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in the district in preserving and promoting cultural values, enriching the spiritual and cultural life of the community, creating new and attractive tourism products, aiming at the development of green and sustainable tourism, gradually completing the goal of building Mu Cang Chai into a tourist district, a destination of "Identity - Safety - Friendliness".




On this occasion, Mu Cang Chai district also awarded prizes for the Mu Cang Chai district logo design contest and the "Beautiful hawthorn photo" contest to the authors (photo above).


Earlier, this afternoon, the People's Committee of Mu Cang Chai district organized a tourism seminar with the theme "Mu Cang Chai - Destination "Identity - Safety - Friendliness". This is one of the activities within the framework of the opening ceremony of the Mong Panpipe Festival, the To Day Flower Festival and activities to welcome the new spring 2025.
