Today, September 2nd, marks exactly 78 years since the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
At Ba Dinh Square that year, at the end of the Declaration of Independence, President Ho Chi Minh affirmed: "The Vietnamese nation has the right to enjoy freedom and independence, and in fact has become a free and independent nation. The entire Vietnamese people are determined to dedicate all their spirit and strength, lives and property to safeguard that right to freedom and independence."
For 78 years, through many historical events, the Vietnamese nation has proven that the spirit of the Declaration of Independence continues to be built upon and nurtured.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's statement, also affirmed in the documents of the 13th National Party Congress, states: "Our country has never before possessed such a foundation, potential, position, and international prestige as it does today. This is a source of pride, a driving force, an important resource, and a belief for the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army to overcome all difficulties and challenges, and to continue steadily on the path of comprehensive and synchronized reform; and to develop the country rapidly and sustainably." To achieve this foundation, potential, position, and prestige, in addition to leveraging its inherent strengths and the spirit of national unity, Vietnam has increasingly built its position and prestige in international relations.
On August 31st, commemorating the 78th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, President Vo Van Thuong delivered an important speech, emphasizing: “Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge for cooperation and dialogue, strengthening multilateralism, promoting peaceful resolution through dialogue on disputes based on the United Nations Charter and international law; and will always be a sincere and loyal friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community.”
This assertion has also been proven in practice in the political and diplomatic fields, such as the visits of Party and State leaders to many countries in recent times, or the visits and working trips of many heads of state to Vietnam, which have left very positive impressions.
In the economic sphere, major Vietnamese corporations have made a significant impact on the international market, with "made in Vietnam" products gaining access to demanding markets. Simultaneously, foreign investment in Vietnam is increasing sharply, both in terms of quantity and quality.
The nation's foundation is growing stronger and more stable, creating a new momentum, a new position, and a new strength for Vietnam to reach new heights, possessing the power and wisdom to stand shoulder to shoulder with friends around the world. We believe that the nation's foundation will become even more solid and brighter with the noble goal of a prosperous people, a strong nation, democracy, fairness, civilization, and a steady advance towards socialism.
