(NLDO) - Each racing team will be given an engine and have more than 2 months to complete the "super car".
On the morning of March 1, Cao Thang Technical College (HCMC) held the launching ceremony of the "10th Mini Car Racing - 2025" competition, attracting hundreds of technical students in HCMC and neighboring provinces and cities to attend.
A group of students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education discussed after receiving incentives from the organizers.
As one of the groups that registered for the competition very early, Vo Minh Thang, a student majoring in automotive engineering at the University of Technology (VNU-HCM), said that the group had prepared very carefully and was determined to win a high prize.
"This is a large-scale competition, specializing in the design and application of automotive technology. Although the qualifying round will not be held until May, my team has now finished the design. Currently, the team is focusing on practicing driving skills and overcoming technical factors" - Thang excitedly said.
The competing teams received incentives from the organizers.
At the launching ceremony, Mr. Tran Thanh Dat, General Secretary of the Automobile and Power Equipment Association of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the competition has marked its 10-year journey with many innovations. From an internal competition, Mini Car Racing has now become a traditional car racing competition, held annually for engineering students studying at colleges and universities in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces and cities.
MSc. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, Head of the Faculty of Dynamic Mechanics, Cao Thang Technical College, Head of the Organizing Committee of the competition, said that this year's competition encourages teams to apply hybrid technology combining gasoline and electric engines. This is not only a modern development trend of the automobile industry but also an optimal solution to help save fuel, reduce environmental pollution and move towards sustainable development.
"In addition to supporting equipment and manufacturing tools, the organizing committee also gave the competing teams a 26cm3 gasoline engine, to create fairness and convenience for the competing teams in the research and creation process" - Master Thanh said.
Mini Car Racing are model cars designed and manufactured by students themselves, at least 50%. The cars use 2-stroke gasoline engines, with the same structure and operating principles as real cars.
To date, more than 50 teams of students from universities and colleges in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces and cities have registered to participate. The final round of the competition is expected to take place at the end of May 2025 with a total prize value of nearly 150 million VND.
