Surpassing many countries, Vietnam has stepped onto the podium of glory as the winner of the category “Asia’s Leading Destination” in 2024 of the World Travel Awards (WTA). The list of countries nominated for this category includes China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
Vietnam is also the winner for the categories “Asia's Leading Heritage Destination” and “Asia's Leading Nature Destination” in 2024.
In addition, many of the Asian tourism award categories of this year's World Travel Awards also named localities, businesses and resorts in our country.
Ha Giang province was honored as “Asia’s Leading Local Cultural Destination”, Hoi An ancient town (Quang Nam) was ranked as “Asia’s Leading City Cultural Tourism Destination”, Ha Nam became “Asia’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination”, Moc Chau (Son La) received the award “Asia’s Leading Local Natural Destination”.
In particular, surpassing Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park (Japan), Chitwan National Park (Nepal), Minnieriya National Park (Sri Lanka), Kinabalu and Taman Negara National Parks (Malaysia)... Cuc Phuong National Park was once again honored as "Asia's Leading National Park".
Previously, in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, Cuc Phuong National Park won the title of "Asia's Leading National Park".
Director of Cuc Phuong National Park Nguyen Van Chinh shared that this award is a great source of encouragement and the community's affection for Cuc Phuong's efforts over the past 60 years.
Hanoi won two awards: “Asia’s Leading City Destination” and “Asia’s Leading Short-Term City Destination”. Ho Chi Minh City continued to hold the awards of “Asia’s Leading Business Destination” and “Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination”.

In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism was also honored as “Asia’s Leading City-Level Tourism Management Agency”. This is also the award that the Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism received during this year’s WTA season.
In addition to localities, the World Travel Awards also honored Vietnamese resorts and hotels such as Hoiana Resort & Golf for the category of “Asia’s Leading Integrated Resort”, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay won “Asia’s Leading Honeymoon Resort”, Inter Continental Danang won the double awards of “Asia’s Leading Green Resort” and “Asia’s Leading Luxury Resort”, etc.
At this year's awards ceremony in the Philippines, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (China) won the title of "Top Management Agency in Asia", Cebu City in the Philippines was voted "Top Wedding Destination in Asia" while Bali (Indonesia) won the title of "Most Romantic Destination in Asia".
The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence in the travel and tourism industry worldwide. Last year, the awards ceremony was held in Ho Chi Minh City.
