On October 12, Mr. Le Van Hoang, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Tu Mo Rong district, said that through review, it was determined that there are currently 17 teachers in the area who are weak in professional capacity; unable to undertake teaching and imparting knowledge according to the 2018 general education program.
These teachers are working at primary level, in schools in the area. These are teachers who were recruited before the year 2000. At that time, the area lacked teachers to teach in remote areas. To solve the problem, the locality selected a number of people to receive rapid training in teaching, then recruited them to work in the industry. For a long time, these teachers have contributed to the education sector.
Dak Ha Primary School - the place chosen by the Tu Mo Rong District Department of Education and Training to train 17 weak teachers.
However, at this stage, the teaching method is completely new compared to the previous stage, so the teaching method of these teachers is no longer suitable.
According to Mr. Hoang, dealing with weak teachers is a difficult problem. They are trained as teachers, if they are transferred to other positions such as libraries or offices, they will not meet the requirements for qualifications and professional expertise. If these teachers continue to teach, it will affect the learning of students; it will affect the quality of education that the district is trying to improve.
Mr. Hoang said that the industry's wish is to provide training for teachers who are weak but still dedicated to their work. The department has currently developed a plan to improve the professional capacity of the 17 weak teachers above.
The department will send these teachers to Dak Ha Primary School for 2 weeks of training. During these 2 weeks, the 17 teachers with poor professional skills will be able to attend teaching sessions and receive guidance on classroom and teaching skills from their highly qualified colleagues. After that, they will return to their current school to continue teaching for 1 week.
"The department will go to the school to evaluate whether the teachers have made progress and are capable of performing their jobs after being trained. If they are qualified, they will continue to teach. If they are not, the district People's Committee will advise them on whether they should be dismissed from work and receive benefits," said Mr. Hoang.
