Hong Bang International University (HIU) welcomed senior leaders from 20 top prestigious universities in the US to work and cooperate in research and training.

This is an activity within the framework of the “Vietnam International Academic Cooperation Program” (IAPP Vietnam), on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States. In particular, Hong Bang International University is a typical private educational institution in the Southern region, welcoming delegations from leading American universities to visit, exchange academic knowledge and seek cooperation opportunities in the fields of training and research in many fields.

Mr. Justin Walls, representative of the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, affirmed: “This is a journey of sustainable development and we continue to write that journey by building deep academic relationships between the two countries” . He also expressed his pride in accompanying and supporting HIU in initiatives to promote educational cooperation, an important strategic activity in the Vietnam - US bilateral relationship in the new period.

On the part of Ms. Sammer Saleh Jones, Head of IIE Delegation, Director of Global Relations, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, affirmed that the goal of the visit is not only to meet, but also to share, listen and together create new educational values ​​in the context of globalization.

“We have prepared very carefully for this trip. This is not simply a working session, but a valuable opportunity to connect, learn and accompany Vietnamese partners in long-term, sustainable cooperation,” she said.

“At the University of Alabama, we require students to participate in real-world experiences, including observing and practicing in, especially in, the medical field. If HIU can provide opportunities for international medical observation and internship, it will be a great opportunity for our students,” she said.

Mr. Megan Francis, Director of International Relations, Rutgers University, commented that the experience of interdisciplinary exchange is very useful, opening up opportunities for sustainable cooperation for both sides.

Ms. Roumy Theunissen, Director of Communications and Global Relations, Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) shared about two international academic cooperation opportunities currently expanding with HIU, which are: Global Incubator Seed Grant; Distinguished International Visiting Scholars Program.

Associate Professor Dr. Le Khac Cuong, Vice President of HIU emphasized: “We are committed to building practical, long-term cooperation models with US universities, especially in training high-quality human resources and applied research. This is a strategic step for HIU to integrate more deeply into the global academic network.”

Proposed strategic cooperation directions between HIU and US universities include:

  • Bilateral training linkage: Building 4+2 (doctor), 4+1 (pharmacist) and 3+1 (nursing) articulation models, helping HIU students access international degrees and expand global learning opportunities.
  • Academic and student exchanges: Strengthening exchanges of lecturers and students, organizing international conferences and seminars.
  • Medical Technology Research: Collaborate on joint health research projects and develop new medical technologies.
  • Community activities: Participate in grassroots health projects, support the disadvantaged and disease prevention education; support start-up projects for students.
  • Cooperation in training high-quality human resources: Cooperate with US corporations to develop training programs suitable for the needs of the international labor market.

  • Rutgers University: Excellence in medicine, pharmacy and life sciences, home to the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the School of Pharmacy.
  • University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign: Making a mark with engineering and computer science.
  • University of Washington: A leader in medicine and social sciences, with a world-class Washington University School of Medicine.
