Depending on the number of drones and complexity, each drone show can cost from 4.5 billion to tens of billions of VND.
On New Year's Eve (February 9), Hanoi City organized the "Brilliant Thang Long" light festival with 2,024 drones, creating 11 art installations in the sky.
This drone light art performance technology has appeared since 2016. This technology has been demonstrated at important events in the world such as the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics (Korea) or the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics (Japan) and the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics (France) to create a strong visual impression and create a strong spreading effect. Currently, dozens of businesses around the world, most of which are in the US and China, provide equipment and technology to serve these performances.

Many countries are also choosing drone displays as an alternative to fireworks to celebrate important events, welcome the new year or celebrate New Year's Eve. However, compared to fireworks, the price for a drone show is many times higher.
According to Dronetechplanet , the starting price for a show of 200 drones with simple 2D images using Intel equipment is from 99,000 USD (more than 2.4 billion VND). 300 drones with 3D images cost at least 199,000 USD (more than 4.8 billion VND).
A 500-drone show with more complex, high-definition images will cost from $299,000, equivalent to over VND7.3 billion. Thus, each drone for the show will cost an average of nearly VND15 million. Meanwhile, a traditional fireworks display usually costs from VND500 million to over VND1 billion.

In Vietnam, sharing with VnExpress, an event director who participated in the 200 drone show in Ho Chi Minh City at the end of 2022, said that the cost of this show is about 4-5 billion VND, equivalent to an average of about 20 million VND for each drone. He estimated that the 2,024 drone show on New Year's Eve in Hanoi could be worth up to more than 20 billion VND when performing complex scenes.
"This new technology creates a very good effect, but not many units and brands in Vietnam use it in events because of the high investment cost. At the same time, in the country, there are currently only a few businesses providing this solution," said the director.
The drone show in Hanoi on February 9 was entirely funded by social funds sponsored by businesses. A representative of PVcomBank - the business sponsoring Hanoi - said that they had discussed it with the city about a month before the event, but did not disclose the specific cost. Previously, this business also sponsored Hanoi's New Year fireworks display.
The unit that carried out the drone show in Hanoi was Corex Business Solutions Joint Stock Company. In the middle of last year, this company also carried out a show of more than 1,650 drones at the Nha Trang Sea Festival, Khanh Hoa 2023.
According to the Business Registration Portal, Corex is headquartered in Thanh Cong Ward, Ba Dinh District (Hanoi), with Ms. Nguyen Hoai Thu as general director and a charter capital of VND1,500 billion. Of which, Ms. Thu holds the largest share with 65%.
Ms. Thu is also the legal representative of Vega Entertainment International Joint Stock Company - a member company of KDI Holdings. This is a company founded by Mr. Kieu Huu Dung, operating in many fields, including real estate with the Vega City project in Nha Trang. Corex has cooperated with KDI Holdings in projects such as Nha Trang Vega Theatre (That Theater), Vega Beach Club.
Besides Corex, in Vietnam there is also a company specializing in providing drone show services, Hitek Drone Joint Stock Company. This company has been performing a number of shows since 2022 with corporate branding events, festivals, and sporting events.
